A Shot At Life

Epilogue

As I ascended the stairs, each step I took reminded of the feelings and emotions I thought I had long buried resurfaced and hit me in spiraling waves. If only I could live those phases of life once again ;if only I had known what my reckless decisions would cause me; if only I was cautious of my words.
My eyes caught a cradle covered in thickened dust. I reached for it as a surge went through me with the recollection of an almost forgotten memory...

Past :1998/12/01. Location: Same House
Baby's shriek rings out a room in the attic. Two people( Edward and Mayflower )look down with profound love at the tiny version of themselves and sigh.
Edward: We did it May..we finally did it... What shall we name him dear?

May: Don't ruin the moment (frowns a bit sweetly at her husband) look he even took your eyes.

Edward: But went for your nose and mouth..what a bummer .. And to think I did most of the work(feigns anger)

May: Hey mister I did most of it and it's a product of our night adventures. Don't go throwing up a fit less he inherits that from you. Now be a good boy and smile

Ed: (smiles sheepishly) Yes dear..He's our son(takes the crying baby from his wife's arms) Now don't fret little one for daddy's here for you. Let's name him Maxwell after Grandpa..what do you think darling

May: I love it too.. Now hand Max over lemme give him something from my already sore jugs(Ed hesitates to hand him over).. Ed don't tell me you want to starve our little one on his first day(Feigns anger) One more minute and you will have to milk me dry yourself right here, right now.

Ed: Fine fine. I'm sorry ma'am (hands the baby to her rather slowly) let's give you to mama before my head comes off(grins) oh and do bite down on it to teach Mama a lesson for shouting on Daddy(pouts)

May: What a lesson for your first day my baby Max(starts breast feeding him) Now Ed what kind of a father are you? (scoffs)

Ed: The best there is(smirks as he stands akimbo) and you married me

May: I was blindfolded(pretends to size him up from head to toe with a serious expression) now that I think about it I'm certain I was blindfolded.....

Ed: Blindfolded Huh? You don't say. Now Let me see if it has been removed(smiling devilishly as he moves to kiss her)

May: (blushes as his lips touch hers) you know I was blinded by love(she says in between kisses) don't remove it please

Ed: (smiles happily) I won't ever do. You are my universe (gently caresses the baby as he falls asleep)and this little one is my world

May:(eyes glistens with happy tears as she pulls him closer)oh I love you Ed.

Ed: I love u more Sunshine(says as leans in to deepen the kiss) now let's break for a while, put junior to bed and pick up where we left off(winks at her)

May: ('oh I love this man', she thinks to herself and blushes) yes I'd like that
