Dad signed me up for high school. I had got all my supplies. I had to go early to meet with the principle as to the reason I wasn't there since freshman year.

I got dressed and walked with a limp to school. I had my earbuds in my ear. I walked into the school turning off the music. I walked into the office and told the secretary I was here for the appointment.
"Dynamite Samuels the principal is ready for you." The. Sectarian called. I stood up and limped into the office.
"Hi I'm Principal Phillips. I asked for you to be here early to ask why you disappeared in the middle of freshman year." He said sitting down.
"I had joined the Army sir. I just got home from my second tour in Afghanistan." I said.
"Oh thank you for your service. Do you think you are able to stay caught up with your grade level?" He asked.
"Yes sir. I'm a little advanced in school subjects as I was learning while waiting for my duty. It's just going to be hard fitting in." I said shifting a little.
"What's with the glove?" He asked looking at it.
I took a deep breath.
"At the end of my second tour we were fighting against a group. An explosion went off beside me. I lost my right arm and leg. I was given the Purple Heart, I'm a colonel and was discharged." I said looking down. He gave me a shocked sympathy look.
I had gotten my schedule.
Schedule:
Calculus
AP English
Weight lifting 3
Lunch
AP chemistry
AP World History
Free period
PE
I walk to my locker and open it. I took out calculus book. I walked with a limp to my math class. I enter and hand the teacher the note the principal told me to give her.
She had me sit in the front. The class was easy, and handed in the work. I put my book up and went to my English class.
When I entered the weight lifting class I saw a lot of shirtless boys. I handed the note to the teacher. He nodded and pointed me to the locker room. I walked in and changed into track pants and my army shirt. I took off the glove and walked out.
When I exited they stopped talking and looked at my arm. I went and started the work out that was on the board. It was not even close as hard as the ones I did at camp. The boys watched as I started out at a hundred and fifty on each side. I did three sets of fifteen. I then put two more tens on and did the same thing.
The boys were gapping at me. When I finished early. I changed back and walked out. In two weeks is the veterans assembly. I walked to lunch and grabbed some fries and a water. I walked to a a table. And ate quietly. I took my pills and looked at my phone. I was texting John. I looked up hearing a clearing a throat. I saw the boys from the gym.
"Can we sit here?" They asked.
I nod and put away my phone.
"What's your name?" The leader of the group asked.
"Dynamite Samuels." I said.
"That is a weird name." He said.
"My older brother named me. He liked the bugs bunny cartoons." I said quietly.
"How old is he now?" They asked.
"He would've been twenty. He died saving me when I was six. He was hit by a car." I said quietly.
"Oh sorry for your loss. How did you get a robotic arm?" They asked.
The bell rang. I quickly got up and went to my science class.
At the end of the day at PE. The same boys from third was there. I changed and waited for coaches instructions.
I ran the mile. The boys seem slower than me. And I have a prosthetic leg!
We played basketball. I walked home listening to music. I walked inside the house. I sat on the ground in my room. I looked at my picture that I always have. I cried hugging my knees.
