Bold speaking is Japanese ~ Italics is English
My first day at high school. I'm so different from the others. I had barely learned almost fluent Japanese, before the final move. Now I'm here, about to walk out of the door. Wearing the plain girls uniform, signifying that I have left my British ways behind. I am now a proud transfer student from England to Iwatobi High School.
I step into the light, early year breeze. My hair, blonde from the sunny country we ventured to before saying goodbye to my friends, taking a trip to Australia, spending every last second together. Tears form, already. I've been away for a week, I can't stand not seeing my best friend face to face. I sigh and begin the relatively long walk to school.
I walk down a hill. To see two boys walking together, they go to my school. At least I hope that they hadn't stolen the boys uniform at my high school to trick me. One was tall and had greenish, brown hair. The other not short but not as tall as the giant next to him, his hair a jet black. Instead of being the confident person I should be to impress the students, I just cautiously walk behind them about 3 metres away. Intently listening to the sea as I pass by it. I close my eyes and walk, smelling the ocean's scent. Much better than home, I thought.
When I was walking I caught on the little the boys were saying. Apparently school started yesterday, after the winter holidays. Whoops. Then they were talking about black hair being in the bath this morning. Making me snort, that's odd. The boys looked at me quickly and then returned to their silence.
I feel like I won't fit in here. I was sitting in the class, early I might add. Everyone was all out talking to their friends, and I was there sitting in the classroom waiting for the teacher to arrive. Wow, I'm cool. A kind mid-thirties man, walked up to me.
"Are you miss, er, Pilips"
"It's pronounced Philips" I replied politely to the smiling man.
"I speak English fluently if you ever struggle with my language." The teacher offers nicely. Bless his kind soul.
"I'm sure I can manage, if not, I'll make sure to notify you straight away." I say enthusiastically to assure my ability to speak Japanese
"Great, In this class there is a boy who is also able to speak English, would you like to be seated near him?"
"Yes, please"
"His name is Nagisa Hazuki, he's a bit, well crazy, you'll see what I mean."
'Finally someone I can relate to.' I thought. The teacher leads me to the desk at which I'll be assigned to.
"Sorry I didn't catch your name, senpai?"
"Mr Tanaka" He replies, pulling at the chair at his desk, taking a swig of his white mug, from the smell it was coffee. The teacher then starts to prepare for the lesson, writing some maths formulae on the chalkboard. I do the same. Reaching into my bag taking out my notepad and pens. The brightly coloured pens help me learn some of the trickier problems with their appealing colours.
As I was setting up I was unaware of the short beach blonde boy approaching my desk.
"Hey, my name is Nagisa!" he says over enthusiastically.
I smile back at him, I love energetic people. "Hello! I'm Sarah, the new transfer student."
He looked shocked "I thought because you didn't turn up yesterday you weren't ever going to come in, at my old school all the exchanges were always sad and gloomy. You better not be upset Sarah-Chan" he pouts.
I giggle back at him. "Of course not, dear Nagisa-chan!" this boy is the cutest thing ever "You're too happy for me to ever not be excited for school now" I smile kindly at the gleaming boy. He beamed so happily throughout the whole lesson, humming to himself. But still managing to keep his concentration on the learning. I always dreamed of having a friend like this, over excitedness is the best trait to have.
As I was answering the teacher's question, the lunch bell rang sharply. I then started packing my bag. As soon as I had finished a ecstatic hand was placed on my wrist gently tugging trying to tag me along to his errands.
"Nagisa-Chan, I'll be done in just a tic! Calm yourself" I laugh.
"In a tic? Hm?" He looked at me oddly.
"Oh, sorry like a tic of the clock, y'know" I made the clucking noise of a clock with my tongue. The answer seemingly satisfied Nagisa. But he was fidgeting on the desk he was perched upon.
"If you don't hurry, we can't find Mako-Chan and Haru-Chan" Nagisa whines impatiently.
"Are they your friends?" I ask wanting to know more about this abstract boy.
"Well, I haven't seen them since elementary school! But I'm sure they'll recognize me!" He says willing for his sentence to be true.
"I'm ready now lets go" His face lit up again! His smile almost permanently etched onto his pale face.
I was dragged straight out of the classroom. Nagisa was stronger than he looked, keeping his tight grip around my small hands.
"I've heard that Mako-Chan and Haru-Chan are often seen on the roof! LET'S GO" He shouts, provoking the other students to stare oddly or glare at the oversized child.
