"Good morning kids," I said as I looked over at my grandchildren coming down the stairs. "Grandpa! Grandpa! Can you tell us a story?" Lucy, one of my six grandchildren exclaimed. "Sure sweetie, now let's see, what story should I tell you? "Hmm...why don't you come up here and tell me Lucy?" I said with a smile. Lucy was blond, just like her grandmother, always happy no matter what, and had the most adorable smile ever. Lucy walked up to my old chair with her cute little bow in her hair and whispered into my ear, "How about that story about you and Grandma?" "Which one sweetheart?" I replied. "When you two first met?" She then said with a tiny laugh. "My favourite one," I replied with a smile. "Well Children," I said as Lucy went back to her spot by the warm fireplace. "That day I first met your Grandmother was a long, long time ago, before you and your parents were even born! My goodness, I don't even remember what year it was, but it was the happiest moment of my life! Otherwise none of you would be here!" The grandchildren gave me small gasps as I continued. "It all started in that coffee shop. Oh that coffee shop, I wish I could remember it's name! It had paintings and pictures all around the shop, ones of food they served and others of how the shop looked before hand. There were tables and seats in booths and also some seats in front of the counter. Most of the furniture was red and the walls had a shade of yellow to them. The floor was made of shiny blue tiles. Anyways, one day while I was seventeen, no eighteen, I took myself to that very coffee shop to get me just as regular cup of coffee on that regular coffee day. I had been wearing a green plaid shirt, a leather sweater, and some jeans. It was a sunny day, not too cold and not too hot, but it was sunny as I remember. The air smelled nice and the sky looked beautiful. The perfect coffee day. The moment I walked in, I immediately saw your grandmother in her beautiful blond hair ordering a cup of coffee in front of the counter. She was wearing a red shirt along with a gorgeous blue sweater. I then walked up and took the seat beside her and ordered my coffee as well. Oh that seat, a seat made out of leather, it was. Hey there, were my exact first words to her. Your grandmother being as friendly as usual had said hey back. We then bonded over our favourite foods, (ice cream sandwiches and spaghetti) subjects (Math) ,and other interests after getting our coffees. I asked her if she was from the town where that old coffee shop belonged and she said yes, your grandmother at the time had just moved in! I was surprised because I had lived there as well! After I told her that, she gave me her number. We later left the coffee shop but never lost touch. We would call almost every day, eventually come over to each other's houses, became boyfriend and girlfriend, and then finally got married. She was the best thing that ever happened to me and I am glad I walked into that coffee shop. The end." My grandchildren clapped. "You got that right!" Their grandmother,my wife said as she walked into the room.. And we all laughed and had a great time like all grandparents and grandchildren should have.
