My kiss is like a posion,

deadly to the touch;

Even you are not immune,

I should have known as much.

I can hear your heatbeat slowing,

It's comming to a still;

You can hear the clock start ticking,

Bringing midnight's chill.

I saw my dreams reflected,

inside your fragile eyes;

Then I got to watch them crumble,

as I saw My Shadow rise.

I hold the shattered pieces,

like shards of broken glass;

All the things reflected there,

Bitter to the last.

We seemed so full of promise;

The nights so full of stars,

the days so full of wonder,

It should have all been ours.

If I had known My Shadow,

would follow me even here;

If I had know what my touch would do,

I'd have never brought you near.

Now the fire's burned to ashes,

the clock's sounded midnight the chimes;

All I hear is My Shadow's laughter,

"Love's best kept to rhymes"
