What Am I Being Judged On??

The judges have a fine criteria of what to judge each book, even each chapter on. If you would like to know how you can boost your chances of winning, here is the criteria:

There are 5 different points in which you are being judged on in general, each worth a certain amount of points. In total, your story is worth up to 100 points.

1) Presentation

~ This is where you should make sure that you have proper punctuation, spelling, and grammar. When your story is spelled correctly and is grammatically correct, it will flow much easier and will be better received.

2) Premise/Concept

~ This is basically the idea behind the story. What it's about.

3) Structure, Plot and Pacing

~ In a nutshell, this is the framework of the story.

~ Focuses on the actions, events, conflicts, and turning events that propel the story forward. The timing of the action, the unfolding of the plot elements and character development

~ Also looking for originality and unpredictability

Worth 30 points

4) Characters and Dialogue

~ Protagonist and antagonist with clear, active goals

~ Personalities that are distinctive, compelling, multi-layered and unpredictable

~ Use of language that effectively reveals character and moves the story forward

Worth 25 points

5) Style/Tone

~Overall quality of the writing

~ Tone that is appropriate for material that is distinct, interesting, and effectively conveys the mood or 'feel' of the story

So far, we have 7 judges, including myself. Let's show them support for the hard, unappreciated job of judging by not throwing around hate and rude comments. If you do happen to say anything rude or hateful toward a judge, it is grounds for immediate elimination from this contest.
