Ello :) Just a reminder that this fiction is a bit messed up. Some parts are in past tense n some are in present. I really suck at the whole 'tense' thing but hope you like this. Happy happy joy joy! :D

Crystal's POV
Basketball is my life. If I had to trade my love for basketball, it would be my life. I'm not trying to be cheesy or anything but I honestly love basketball.
Sure, I'm quite short - 5'4 to be exact - to be qualified as a basketball player but I believe in 'exceeding my limits'. Or something like that.
I have a specific attitude that probably everyone here in Winston High knows about: my 'hating to lose' attitude. And this is the feeling I'm getting right now.
I'm in the gym, currently aiming my goal of the day. I dribble the ball and leave all the hulks behind as I reach the net line. I hear girls and boys both cheering and shouting names.
To my discontent, Dan's name is echoing through the walls of this gym. Daniel Cobb, the bastard that gets all pleasure without actually doing anything. Sometimes I doubt if he's actually human.
I clear my mind as I jump to do my usual shoot. However, some bloody eccentric lunatic gets in my way and slams the ball away from me.
I look up with my face clearly showing anger, "What the hell dude!"
There I see my most beloved boy I have been admiring for eons. As if. Yes, it's Daniel Cobb. I wonder why doesn't he just go live in his 'cob'. You get it? 'Cobb' into 'cob', yea? Oh well, it's probably because of his effing height. This crazy 5'9 guy.
He picked the ball from the floor before saying, "You're over concentrating on the goal. Your judgement is still too naive, Lil'Chrissy." he sounded like a disappointed parent.
That was more than enough to get me snapped. "The last thing I want is a scolding from you. I don't wanna be reprimanded, especially by you, Cobb."
"Eh, what did little Chrissy say? I'm sorry I couldn't hear. It's just that you're so short, I can't hear you even when I bend." His sarcasm started and I got even more pissed.
I tried grabbing the ball from him but he just raised his hand and held the ball so high that the poor me couldn't even reach it.
"Aurghhhh! You annoying shithead! Don't you have anything better to do!? Don't think you're better just because you're taller!" I started kicking him as hard as I could. I suddenly felt a hand on my arm dragging me away from Dan.
I immediately knew it was Jess. Jessica Everett, my best friend since pre school. We were so close that some people even call us lesbians. It was offensive but we laughed it off as a symbol of our bond.
"Come on, Cris! We've got a practice of our own!" What she meant by that was that I was intruding into the males' territory. Not exactly. We had two basketball teams in Winston High. Males' and females'. And somehow I always ended up in the boys basketball training court.
"Fine! I'll get you next time, you Cobb!" I made my way to the girls' court, not before hearing Dan shout "It's not the problem of height, it's the problem of LEVEL!" I could hear his friends telling him to stop teasing me.
But I wasn't the kind to give up so easily. I turned and gave him a glare before walking off. I made a mental note to bring that shithead down anyhow.
However, things weren't as easy as said. I could hear people talking about stuffs like how Dan and I are so cute together or how amusing they find our arguments.
I actually laughed at the first part. Dan and I, together? Sure, only in the battlefield though.
The boys started their practice match again and the cheering continued. We begun our practice as well.
I didn't understand why people were allowed to watch us practice, I mean, we're just practicing.
Not that I mind though, I actually like it. People shouting names and encouraging us. It felt good. Except for the part that Dan got more fan girls swooning over him.
Yea, it's just me getting jealous but it's his fault for annoying me. I was one of those popular kids you find in high school. Not bragging or anything, but people actually liked my basketball skills.
The only problem was that I wasn't the 'queen bee' kind of popular. I was more of the 'tomboy' and 'if you were a boy, I'd marry you' kind of popular. Of course, the second part goes for the girls.
Yea, I was the short haired, hands in pockets, top buttons off, anti makeup, leggings under skirts and too cool for school kind of girl. Well, cut off the last part. School was actually fun because of basketball.

~Girl's Changing Room~
"You're a girl, Cris. You really shouldn't participate in their matches. It's not in our agenda, you know." Jess gave me a worried look.
We were currently in our club room, changing. It was already 5pm and everyone was changing or on their way home.
"I know, Jess." I paused for a while and begun again. "The higher the mountain, the more you want to reach the peak, right?" I gave her a tounges' out and a peace sign.
"Dude, I don't need a charming line that a guy says. Just admit it that you don't wanna lose to Dan."
"I don't lose to him! I just hate the fact that I couldn't snatch the ball from him! He's like my mortal enemy! Em no and I hate him because he's taller than me.. and also because he's more popular than me.. and also because of his brain.."
"Your 'losing to hate' attitude will never change." Jess gave me a blank face and I grinned at her.

~Boy's Changing Room~
Daniel's POV
"Jeez, you should really stop teasing Cris so much. It obstructs our traning. I couldn't even touch the ball." Gale said as he shut his locker.
I was on my way out after changing. It was an advantage that this room was specifically for the boy's basketball team.
"Ehhh? But she's really interesting. Lil'Chrissy is my toy, no?" I gave Gale my best playful smile.
"God, he said it again. If Cris heard you, she'd go crazy." Marc stated.
"Just what I want." I did a fake evil laugh and went out the room.

Third person's POV
The doors to the girl's and boy's changing room opened with a slam. Cris and Dan both walked out with their friends following.
Somehow, they made an eye contact and Cris got really pissed.
"Going home, Lil'Chrissy?" Dan gave his best smirk which he knew annoyed Cris to hell.
"Lemme just whack him once and for all! This annoying bastard! And don't call me Lil'Chrissy! Go die!" Cris kicked the air and struggled from Jess to beat up Dan. Dan knew just how much Cris hated that nickname, and so did the others.
"Cris! That's enough! Let's go! Don't tell me you forgot your promise!" Jess screamed her voice out to Cris.
Cris hated how Dan could take out the worst in her without much effort.
"I didn't forget but that guy!"
Just as Cris looked at Dan, she saw him talking to some girls with a smile on his face. She hated how girls actually liked him even after knowing how big of a teaser he was.
Some waved their goodbyes and with that, all the girls and boys made their way home. Cris had no choice but to stop struggling and head home.

Dayum, I suck at the third persons view thing. I can swear never to try that again. =.=
Hope you liked it. =]
