Chapter 1
The sun wasn't raised very well, it was half dark. 7AM. Mami stood up from the bed and stared at Tomomi, girl sleeping next to her. She got close to her and started waking her up:
-TOMOMI Wake UUPPP!!!!! -Mami jumped on Tomomi's bed and started shaking her head.
-Only five minutes....!!! Please!!!!
-No, wake up~!!!
Tomomi turned around and opened her eyes:
-You're a monster!!
-Yeah, i know.. I'm a monster because i'm waking you up every morning!
-No, you really look like a monster... -She jumped out of the bed, took a knife that was on the plate near her bed and put it on Mami's neck. - Who are you?!
-It's time to say the truth...-whispered Mami. She dragged Tomomi's arm and went out of the house....
-Where are we going?!
-You'll see... -answered Mami, while they were running in the streets.
Mami stopped in front of an old library. It was all empty with a dirty yard around it. The walls of the building was full of dust.
-Where are we?
-In the library of monsters..
-Monsters?! You want to kill me?! -Tomomi started yelling and slapped Mami's face.
-No, calm down.. Just follow me. -Mami smiled no matter what and they both entered the building.
Mami pointed on the chair to Tomomi. She sat down:
-Before you'll say something, just listen to us..
-Us?
-Yes, us... -suddenly she heard a voice of a man. The tall man came out from the dark corner.
-Dad?! You're monster too?
-No, I'm just a normal human -he laughed and looked at Tomomi's amazed face.
-Bu..but.. then what are you doing here?
-I'm here to tell everything to you, also I help Mami..
-I'm waiting..
-You're a monster hunter. There are 30 villages and you have to walk in each if it and kill only one monster. They are invisible and no one can see them. If you won't kill them, you'll die. One monster in a day!
-But, how can I see them if no one can?
-You were chosen by the legend.
-Okay, this is crazy, I can't kill monsters or whatever they are.. Then why is Mami monster? Or if she is monster, why do you help her not kill her?
-Because she's kind.. remember that she was always by your side, even if she was a monster since she was born. Her father was a monster, but mom was an ordinary human like me. So when Mami was born she was half human half monster, like now. Her mother gave her daughter to me, because she said that, Mami's father would turn her own daughter to a cruel killer. -Who said that you're going alone? You'll be with her.. -said her father and pointed at Mami, standing in the corner and staring at Tomomi. -And you'll start with your own village.
-Yes, I'll protect you with my own life.. -whispered Mami and looked down at her arm. Then she threw to Tomo a little box. It was very tiny, like a earring.
-What's that for?
-It's "light", that's how we call it. If you'll light it in monsters' eyes, they will bur. They can't walk in the light, day and I want to remind you that you have to walk in the night too, so it will help you.. -said Mami and went outside the building.
-She has hard times, like you. Now go and catch her. It's already getting dark. You have to kill your first monster, or your heart will freeze.
-Freeze?!
-Yes, remember that you have to kill one monster per day. -The man went back to the corner that he came from and brought a huge bag.
-What's that?
-Equipment and weapons.
-How can I carry them?! It ca be more than 5 tons.
-Mami will do it.. -laughed the man and gave the bag to Tomomi. -But at first give this to her. She's waiting you outside.
Tomomi started mumbling something and left the building. She saw Mami walking in the dirty garden. She was staring at a white rose that was the only live thing in this place.
-It's beautiful.. -said Mami with a smile on her face.
-Agree.. -Tomomi smiled back.
-Let me carry it.. -Mami ran to her and hang the bag on her shoulder. -Woah! It's very easy and fluffy.. -laughed Mami and continnued walking to the gates.
"Easy and fluffy?!" -Tomomi's eyes were popping out because of these words. "Is she a truck or what?!"
They were walking for a long time. Suddenly Mami stopped in front of a red line, where the beautiful forest was starting. Everything was beautiful, the green trees, bunches of flowers and the birds' singing. Tomomi was amazed by this view.
-And we have to find a monster inside this forest? It's impossible. Monster can't live in a such a beautiful place like this!
-You're wrong. That's a magical forest with lots of illusions. In a real view here are a lot of dirty puddles, crazy flowers that can eat anything and etc.
-Really?!
-Yes.. Now come and continue to walk.
Tomomi followed Mami and soon they already were in a village. The place waas empty, but the houses were standing. No one was walking outside. Suddenly Tomomi exclaimed and pointed at an old man walking fast across the road.
-Here! Come here please! -she started shouting. The old man was afraid, but Mami smiled softly and he slowly came close to them.
-Um, hi mister! Can you tell why is this place so empty? -started Tomomi.
-Because of the monster young lady... -said an old man and smiled to Timo. -He's eating people in our village. At first here was more than 40 families, but now there are only 10. We're not going out.
-Can you tell us where does this monster live? -asked Mami curiously.
-We don't know it, we haven't even see it's face. We just know that it's coming in the center of the village every night.
-Okay, We will stay here this night and do everything that we can. -said Tomomi hit the old man's softly.
-Thank you young ladies! Whole village is counting on you. -he smiled and ran back to his house.
It was a little time left till the night. Mami and Tomomi sat down on the ground in the center of the village. The sun hidded and the the moon came out on the sky.
-It's time! -said Mami and they stood up.
The sound of someone walking was heard from the back. Tomomi turned around and twisted it's neck hardly and hurled it to the wall.
-It's time for you to die! -she said and took the sword, but her eyes stared at the face of monster, the sword stopped in the air.
-Mother?!
