Elizabeth's POV

The memories of a few nights ago were still a blur, his face still just the simple features. I had tried to banish the questions on his identity from my mind but they kept floating back. I decided to refer to it as a 'one-night stand' - even though we didn't do anything. I turned to my roommate standing in her bare side of the room,

"Are you sure you have to leave?" I beg

"Yes. I'm sorry, I'm only moving in with my Louie" She giggles. Louie had asked her to move in months ago and she'd only just agreed.

"Fine." I say, pulling a mock angry face and turning away from her, "Goodbye Sharron!" I exclaim, quickly pulling up and - taking her by surprise - I pull her in for a massive hug.

"Goodbye Elizabeth." She murmurs into my shoulder. I pulled back after a long moment and watched as my roommate of 2 years left my dorm room.

Daniel's POV

After leaving Elizabeth's dorm building I track down Louie. He had been her roommates boyfriend for a few years now and had been begging for Sharron to move in for months. I pulled him aside into a dark alley - how cliché - and he struggled for a while under my hard grip

"You love Sharron. You always will. You'll do anything for her." I use compulsion to convince him. His dirty, mundane smell clarified he wasn't supernatural and my compulsion would never wear off - unless he is turned. "You will forget this conversation" I finish before releasing his shoulder and watched as he stepped back on to the street. I followed the dimly lit road to the classy hotel Charlie had insisted I stayed at - she was friends with the manager. Stepping into the large suite my enhanced senses alerted me to another presence. A wolf.

"I know your in here wolf" I spit the words out.

"Well done, bloodsucker" A cold but familiar voice drifted through the room. I follow the source into the main room of the extravagantly large suite. I rounded the corner and was met face-to-face with Jordan Mass.

"What are you doing in my room, dog" I question venomously, pushing his back against the wall.

"I came to warn you." He pushed off me.

"Warn me of what?" I ask, watching every move he makes as he casually stoles around my room

"The Bennett's. They're after a long-lost member. I believe you know her, Elizabeth Bennett." He chuckles, sadistically. He knows what she is to me, somehow.

"I wonder who tipped them off." I snarl, baring my fangs

"I didn't." He growled back "They knew of her existence for a long time, they just didn't know where. But thanks to you sudden interest in her they found her, when they were tracking you." He snapped.

"Tell me. Where, when?" I growl, launching myself at him and pushing him onto the floor

"I. Don't. Know" He struggles under my grip but I hold tight, "Your her mate, follow her scent."

"Surprised you don't yourself, isn't that what dogs do." I growl into his ear,

"Hey, I just helped you." He said, holding up his arms in surrender. I pull of him.

"Get out." I snap. He does so without a second word. Instinctively, I grab the nearest thing to me - a deep, purple pillow - and tear it in half. I watch as the soft feathers drift through the air and settle gently on the plush carpet. I calmed my racing thoughts, covering my face with my hands and sighing. Pulling up, I run to the dorm rooms. The small, silver locket hit against my chest as a strong gush of air hit my boy. The white-oak inside protected me from the warm, golden sun that was just rising. I reached the front of the dorm building, finally stopping as a familiar face walked out the doors. I recognised her as Elizabeth's roommate. She had a bag over her back - She was moving out.

"Profess-" I cut her off as I grab her arms and pull her around a corner

"Where is Elizabeth?" I question, fear making my body shake

"Uh, she's in the dorm..." She trails off, clearly miffed at my strange question

"Good. I got here before they did." I think out loud

"Excuse me? Who's they? And since when did you care about Elizabeth?"

"Never mind." I shake my head, "You will move in with Louie, and you will stay with him until he dies. You will always love him. And you will forget this conversation." I use this chance to compel her into living a happy life with Louie. At least that's what I convinced myself... taking someone away from other possible relationship opportunities. But at least they have a guaranteed happiness with each other. I release my tight grip from her and move into the dorm buildings. I tear up the steps and run round the corner towards her dorm room. I was given strange looks from the students. Maybe I shouldn't have given the guest lecture here. I pull the door open and stare around the empty room. Damn, I'm too late. I slam the door as I walk in the room and crouch down, putting my head in my hands. The room is filled with her scent. This will be helpful to find her, I manage to slow my thoughts enough to find one remotely useful.

---

I trod along the churned ground as I followed the faint trail of her scent. It had now intermingled with the other scents of Bennett witches that it was hard to define now however the massive group of witches formed almost a beacon for the Rece clan to find and massacre the majority of the Bennett family. I refrain from my instincts to use my supernatural powers but they would detect it - I felt a border of magic as I walked into the Bennett family tomb - but my enhanced senses couldn't be detected by their magic. It took blood magic to detect all supernatural powers and even the Bennett family wouldn't stoop that low. I approach from a distance, using my enhanced hearing and sight, I watch on the group of witches huddled around a small figure.

"Who are you?" A familiar voice questioned in a small, confused voice. It takes every bit of will power not to run in and kill every witch there. They begin a chant, one I don't recognise, and she continues questioning them - to no prevail. I listen in, trying to translate the witches chant, I recognise parts but my Romanian isn't as good as it used to be. They fall silent, one walks towards the centre of the circle, where my mate now cowered. Elizabeth gradually backed away but another witch in the circle caught her and moved her towards the approaching ward. I couldn't take it anymore, I ran towards the circle and grabbed my mates arm before the approaching witch reached her.

"Vampire." A strong voice called. I looked around, in search of the voice, only to find all the witches' mouths were moving - simultaneously. It was a trick I had seen time and time again. I ignore it and take my mates arm, "Release her!" The voice says again "She is a Bennett Witch, she belongs to us."

"I'm taking her" I growl

"She is a Bennett witch." The voice repeats and they all take a step forward

"Her magic is dormant. She isn't any use to you."

"She is a Bennett witch." They all take a step forward

"I'm taking her back."

"She is a Bennett Witch." The crowd takes another step forward, almost within arms reach. Our chance of escape was slowly slipping away. I run, holding her in my arms. She starts mumbling but can't form a word. I stop a distance away from the tomb but the voice continues,

"She is a Bennett Witch." It chants, "She is a Bennett Witch." I growl. There's only one idea I have that could stop her being tracked - Oliver.
