“What a boring day again in the hospital oh, not again but always” here I am lying in the hospital bed looking at the ceiling. If I were healthy will they allow me to go to school again? I hate it when these thoughts are in my head again. While I’m in the midst of my thoughts my mom came and sat beside me.

“Kathy are you feeling a lot better now?”

“Yes mom but I’m too bored may I go outside please?”

“You know it’s not good for your body to go outside”

“I’m stronger now so I know I can handle it so please”

“Alright, you may but only in the grounds of the hospital”

“Thank you, Thank you” then I hug her tightly. I need to prepare myself now. I put on my shoes and ready to go outside. At the garden of the hospital, I sat in one of the benches there. I was enjoying the fresh air and the falling leaves when someone sat beside me and called me.

“Kaydee?” who is this person calling me Kaydee. Only that “guy” calls me Kaydee.

“Me?”

“Yeah you”

“Do I know you? Because I don’t talk to strangers”

“You’re still the same Kaydee nothing changed” He said while laughing at me. Wait, that smile, the way he calls me don’t tell me he is...

“DK?” He just smiled at me.

“Yeah!”

Meet Dale Klein, DK for short. My closest friend when I’m still attending school. He is handsome, very playful like any other guys and many girls at our school love him. This is always his problem because he had to turn them all down. I think all the girls like him in school except for me. That’s why we are very close and only I know that he likes someone but even I don’t know who’s that someone is.

“DK, I miss you how are you?” I hug him tightly

“I’m fine, the question is how are you?” he said while moving away from my hug

“Still the same” I falsely smile.

“Don’t be sad, now that I know where you are I’ll always visit you” then he holds my hand assuring me that he’ll really do it.

“Thanks but how did you find me?” I told no one I was hospitalized except for DK and we moved to a new place. I didn’t tell this to DK because I didn’t want him to be bothered by me.

“Well, we moved to this place and my mom gave birth to my baby sister in this hospital then I got bored and decided to walk in the garden while walking I saw a cute girl who seems familiar so I followed her and when I recognized it was you I sat beside you and called you. End of story Kaydee” he explained.

“ohh… Congrats!”

“Thanks” we were in silence. No one tried to open a new topic when suddenly a strong wind came and made the small branches fall then he pulled me closer to him away from the branches.

“That was close” He was hugging me tightly I suddenly felt something strange in my chest.

“Thanks”

“We better get you inside Kaydee I don’t want you to experienced that kind of accident” he calmly said to me. “Why? Don’t be too serious it’s just a branch” I said while slapping his arm.

“Because the branch might broke into two if it were to hit your head. Poor branch” while patting my head.

“You’re so mean DK” then we both laugh. He is still the same DK I know playful as ever.

“Let’s go back inside?” he holds my hand then pulled me to stand up. I thought he was going to release my hand after that but he didn’t. We walked hand in hand and again I felt something in my chest.

We’ve reached the hospital then we part our ways.

“See you again Kaydee”

“You too, Bye DK” then I went to my room and lie down in bed. I tried to sleep but I can’t I always see DK’s face and his smile. What is happening to me? I woke up and my head aches. Still, I don’t know why I can’t sleep and I can’t stop thinking about DK”. The door opened and Doctor Santos came in.
