"Does she really have to go?"
"We have no other choice. She has to leave."
"I understand. I'll go call her immediately."
I was still in bed, tucked under my blanket. This is the day. The day I'm going to live on my own.
I hear the door open, and my father comes in.
"Dear, you know what day it is today, right?"
I simply nod, trying not to show my father the hurt that I feel inside.
"I know that this is too hard for you, so I have decided to go with you. Someone has to protect you. You're going to be the CEO of our company in a few years," he continued.
"Father, I understand what you mean. I really do. But, aren't I too young for this? I mean, I want to do something else after I graduate."
"You have to. Someone out there is dying to own the company. If it goes into the wrong hands, our clan will slowly fall down in the ranks. So please, do this for us. For me, for your mother."
The sudden mention of my mother caught me off guard. She's been missing for who knows how long, and she doesn't even contact us.
"Get ready now. We leave on 10 o'clock sharp."
This is it. I'm going to start a new life.
