"Lucas, i can't wait to go to prom!" Maya said cheerfully to Lucas who looked up from his phone to listen to her.

"Its not for a couple of months." he laughed at his blonde friend, who frowned at his statement.

"So? Im still excited, whoever takes me to prom better be prepared for my energy on that day." Her eyes glimmered with adornment towards Lucas' direction, which he smiled at but soon realizing Zay was approaching from behind him, which was what Maya was staring lovingly at.

"Yeah, Zay's a lucky guy." he mumbled to himself quietly as he watched his best friend and the girl he loved kiss right in front of his face, he could feel his heart ache, but he couldn't leave the table without looking obvious of his agitation.

"Mmm i love you" Zay mumbled into the kiss, pecking her lips softly once more before pulling apart, he then took a seat wrapping his arm around his girlfriend. Maya just smiled, not ready to say she loved say back just yet. It never hurt Zay that she never said it back well from what she knew, she thought it didn't matter because he knew that she had issues with committing after her father left.

"Well you guys i have to go. See you around." Lucas said quickly as he seen the couple engaged into a conversation that would lead to them kissing again, it made him nauseous seeing them together, it hurt seeing her with another guy, but it hurt more seeing her with his best friend. Zay never knew about Lucas' feelings for Maya, if he did Lucas knew he would have never went after her, well he hoped that's what would happen.

When Zay told Lucas 9 months ago that he liked Maya, Lucas was shocked but still encouraged Zay to ask her out since he knew he himself didn't have the courage to say he loved Maya since middle school. After Zay and Maya's first date, they realized they had a good connection which lead to more dates, and soon they were official. Lucas was disappointed in himself, he had hoped it wouldn't work, and now he was forced to watch them fall in love right in front of his eyes, not being able to do anything to stop it.

Lucas was looking down trying to get the image of the girl he loved kissing another guy out of his head, in the middle of him doing this, he bumped into someone. He looked down to see a girl on the floor collecting her things.

"Oh i'm so sorry, i didn't see you there." Lucas immediately said, reaching his hand out to help the girl off the floor.

"It's alright, i'm alright." she chuckled, dusting herself off, finally catching a glimpse of the person who knocked her down.

"Uh- I'm Eris, and you are ?" she said smiling realizing it was Lucas, he didn't know her but she knew him, she had a crush on him for a while.

"Lucas, nice to meet you Eris." he smiled back at the girl, "do i know you, you seem familiar ?" in all honestly, Lucas thought this girl was cute, he would have asked her out if his eyes weren't to stuck on Maya.

"We have 5th period together but we've never talked before." she blushed as he seemed confused on how he never noticed before, well he assumed it was because Maya was in that class, he never really noticed any other girls except her and riley, his best friend as well.

He walked to class with Eris, and got to make a new friend, that being her. He sat with her when they approached class, he was kind of worried because Maya always sat next to him but he carried on laughing with the girl he met.

Maya walked into class laughing with Riley but that beautiful smile eventually went away when she noticed her usual seat was occupied by another person. Lucas was smiling at the girl next to him not even noticing his best friends watching him with raised eyebrows, especially Riley. Riley knew his feelings for Maya, so she was surprised to see him basically flirting with another girl.

Lucas finally noticed the two girls standing there and smiled softly, trying to get the message to sit somewhere else.

"Hey guys, this is Eris, Eris this is Maya and Riley, my best friends." Eris smiled at the girls friendly, the girls did the same back.

"I hope you guys don't mind if she sits here today." Lucas shyly smiled, as maya and riley walked away towards the back of the room to find new seats.

The day went on and Lucas became fond of Eris, not in a romantic way obviously, but finally having someone else to talk with that wasn't Maya, Zay, Farkle or Riley.

The school day now over, Lucas went to approach his truck when he seen Riley standing next to it, waiting for him.

"Um hey Riles ?" he questioned, not remembering her asking for a ride or expecting to see her, not that he minded.

"Can you drop me off at home?" Lucas nodded and Riley hopped into the truck with Lucas, she didn't necessarily need a ride but she wanted to talk to him about the new girl he met.

"So your new friend is really nice and pretty... seems like you got along with her pretty well after just meeting her today" Lucas chuckled at the comment and shook his head playfully.

"Yeah she's great, i actually have plans to see her later today." he smiled at the words coming from his mouth.

"Like a date?" Riley questioned and Lucas shook his no. "Do you still like Maya?" she asked another question and Lucas sighed deeply.

"I don't like her Riley." he turned to Riley as they were at a stoplight, "I love her." the brunette smiled but felt bad that her best friend couldn't be with the girl he loved.

"I know i'm sorry Lucas, it really seemed like Eris liked you though so maybe she can help you get over Maya."

"That's the thing. I don't want to get over her, i love her and i want her to be more than just my friend. All these other girls don't matter to me, i have eyes only for Maya, but she'll never know" He continued driving and looking towards the road.

The rest of the car ride was silent, Riley didn't know what to tell her best friend, there was nothing she could say or do to help him, he was deeply in love with Maya but she was dating someone else.

"Bye Lucas, thank you." Riley said as she hopped out the truck and waved goodbye to him. He smiled slightly driving off, trying to rid Maya out of his head to meet up with his new friend.
