Grace's POV~
My mother has been dead for three years. I don't know if she is in heaven or hell. Many people tell me that heaven doesn't exist. My father always tells them off 'you assholes have no right to say that' I would always tell him that they have their own opinions and that they could say whatever they wanted, He'd sigh and nod his head.
Our house was in the market, right across from Ms. Welor. She had to one-up us every time we did anything. 'Her son and I had a rivalry against each other ever since I was born,'my mother would say. Which really Rylan and I were really nice to one another. Rylan and I had grown to like each other as friends. One time Rylan had gotten in trouble with the guards, he was running to his house late at night and was caught.
He ended up telling the guards that his mother had lost tract of time and told him to go play outside, luckily the guards believed him. That was all five years ago, hah the memories are nice to have when everyone leaves you. Now All I have is this slice of bread that the guards gave me this morning for food all day. The ice cold cement flooring is my home. I lost everything, I'm emotionless. I'll be dead in a few years anyway.

I have been in here for a while, possibly one year ago...
"Let's go 97!!!," a guard yelled at me.
"My name is Grace, Not 97!!!!" I was so tired of them calling me that. There are so many questions running through my head... What are they doing with me? I thought I wasn't going to get sentenced until I am nineteen? Please No!!! I don't want to die today, This is all because of my father!!!
I was standing still and thinking, when I felt a horrible pain shoot down my back into my legs. . I let out a screech and fell to my knees. I felt like I had been shot five times in the spine, I had no clue what was happening. The only thing I could think of when I blacked out was: Where are they taking me??
I woke up with my arms and legs strained on a chair. My vision was still very blurry. I made out a human figure that had brown hair and tan skin. They smiled at me, thats when I figured out who it was. The same smile friendly smile before I got caught, taking the blame for something I didn't do.
"Hey..." He looked around and leaned toward me,"so what's up Radish, still doing tests on you."
I just sat there, trying to get my vision to its original form. I rubbed my eye, trying to get it back. After one minute of rubbing my eyes, my vision returned.
"Sorry, I was trying to get my vision back," He and I laughed.
"It's okay Radish," his smile taunted me with his white teeth. I smiled back without showing my teeth.
"So back to the questions. Number one:everything above us, The trees and radiation. Number two: No, they stopped after I have tons of blood loss. They cant find whats wrong with me. Rye I can ask the same of you, what's up and how is your mom." Rylans mother had a drug addiction after I went to prison they were my family and as any mother would she fell in depression and started doing drugs to help her regain that 'happiness' that she had before.
"She's doing fine, still up to the drug thing though." His smile went from happy to a disappointed look.
"I'm so sorry for asking, Rye." I looked at him as his eyebrow went up and his eyes got huge, he was scared.
"No, it hasn't been an hour yet." he murmured under his breath. His fists hit the table, shocking me a bit. I turned around to see, two guards walking my direction. I single tear ran down my face onto the table.
They picked up the chair I was sitting on. They cut me off the chair, landing on my knees and hands. I looked at them confused.
"Get out off here, Go!!" The one guard whispered in my ear. I looked at them confused.
"They are taking prisoners and putting them outside in the radiation to die, we are giving you a chance to go and live, The commander wanted you to live, I don't know why but he just did no go before they, take you out there." The other Guard told me. I got up and walked through the gate. I ran up to Rylan.
"We have to go now," I grabbed Rylan's hand and ran out of the prison into the left hall. I started to run down into the school area. Rylan pulled me back his way and started running up towards my old house.
We reached my old burnt down house. Rylan told me to wait inside of here.
"I'll be back Grace, just have to get a few things from the market, okay?" Rylan was scared. I could tell that he was startled on what happened.
After Rylan had left I shuffled my hands in the ashes. I picked up a half burned teddy bear eye. I had a flash back of that teddy bear.

Flashback: Grace's POV
"I HATE YOU!!!YOUR ARE ONLY IN IT FOR GRACE!! SHE IS YOUR DAUGHTER NOT SOME TROPHY OF YOURS!!" My mother was walking into my room to tell me Goodnight when a glass vase was thrown at her by my father. The vase hit her head and she fell to the floor. I was so scared of my father, I hugged my teddy bear named Geo and balled my eyes out until I couldn't cry anymore. My father tried to tell me that it was okay, that she was the bad person. I knew he was lying, My mother was always there for me while he was knocking up other single mothers.  A little after that my father took me over to Rylan's house. We played a bit then I hear a scream. My house was on fire, my mother was getting burnt inside of it. My father faked a cry and Ms. Welor knew it, she told Rylan to take me to his room. She convinced my dad to tell the police that he killed my mother.
