She opened her eyes. Only to realise that this wasn't a horrible dream, that this was all too real. Her 'mother' came in, like she had a thousand times before, rummaging the cupboards of the cottage taking out a fresh cake. Red knew what was going to happen next. She knew what was going to happen today, the next day, and the next day after. Even if there was days, she didn't know.
"Darling? Would you mind taking this cake to grandma's house across the wood? She is very sick and would greatly appreciate it. But don't go into the woods or talk to strangers. It's dangerous."
"Of course, Mother."
Before she knew what was happening, her body moved on its own, grabbing the cake, putting it inside a wicker basket and making its way to the door.
She was moving. Red was walking at a reasonable pace along the path through the village. She tried to stop, but her body wouldn't let her, she wanted to run, run away from all of this into the safe, warm arms of her real mother, if she even had one.
"Red Hood! Red Hood!" 'Jane' shouted to her. Red moved a strand of black hair out of her face and lifted up her hood as her head moved up to greet 'Jane'.
"Good Morning, Jane," Red's mouth moved, as it forced a smile. 'Jane' was the lumberjacks 'daughter'. The lumberjack doted on his 'daughter'. Red took a proper look at 'Jane', taking in all of her features. Soaking them up like a sponge.Red had never took that much notice of 'Jane', dreaming about escape while her body did the work. 'Jane' was a nice girl, her blonde hair shining in the sun. Her chocolate brown eyes the element of perfection, but were slightly different to all the other people here. Her eyes were different. They were almost...
human...
"How are you this fine morning?" Jane asked as they began walking along the path.
"I'm fine thank you, Jane." Red replied as her legs moved forward. Suddenly, 'Jane' stopped. Looking at Red with cold eyes. Red stopped too and gasped. She could move her own body?"Don't you want to leave this place?"
The coldness was replaced with cheeriness as 'Jane' smiled and continued walking. Red's body snapped back into motion and walked, keeping up with Jane. Red's mind was buzzing.
Jane is like me?, Red thought, Someone, unable to control their body.
"So, your off to your Grandmas house, I presume?" 'Jane' asked as she smiled again and played with her hair.
"Yes, I am going to give her this lovely cake." But just then, I managed to gain control? It was like Jane's movements somehow triggered mine...Red wasn't concentrating on what Jane was saying, or what she was saying in return. The words simply flew out of her mouth.
Yes, I do want to get out of here, Red continued waking with 'Jane' until she stopped near some flowers. "Jane, I will be leaving you here," Red said. "I am going to pick some flowers for my Grandmother. I think she will like them." But I wish..."Ok then Red, see you tomorrow~!"
I wish I knew how.
