The past is the past

We can't change that

Turning back isn't an option

We speed forward too fast

If change was an choice

We would have done it by now

Wearing us down like sea spray on the bow

People depend on people

Father on son

Mother on daughter

Like bullet on gun

If we redid what has happened

Imagine the fears

When time is unraveled

Undoing the last thousand years

Millions and billions would flock to the roads

Expecting forgiveness and lighter loads

But going back won't change

Who you are, what you've done

The father is still father

The boy, still the son

We say we'll be better

Clean up our acts

Because it's easier to spout lies

Instead of embracing the facts

We always take the least resistant path

The easiest road

Face the least wrath

We are cowards by nature

Not brave and not bold

To turn and to see the horrors unfold

We want the easiest life

To redo it would be pointless at best

I would never go back

I'd rather go where it leads me next
