Life comes in waves. There are drawbacks and crashes and it can sweep you in with the current before you really even notice. It's loud and...well life demands to be lived.
And maybe that's why Ashley is so against it. Maybe that's why her brain conjures up that all-consuming darkness that brings the feeling of absolute nothingness with it.
It was her mind rebelling against the authority that was life. If life demanded to be lived...well then Ashley would not concede that easily.
And that's exactly what landed her here. And here was House of Moonlight, a rehabilitation centre that specialized in more...severe cases. She was a severe case apparently, who knew?
She knew what landed her here; she knew that this wasn't completely a dumb idea on her parents' part. What she didn't know, however, was that this place would definitely be more of an experience than she'd bargained for.
Her roommate, or cellmate as she liked to refer to her, was loud. As in; yells-at-you-in-normal-conversation loud. And she was tall. And she was blonde. And she wore a lot of make-up. And Ashley couldn't decide if she was very fond of the girl or not.
But Dinah was tolerable. Ashley could deal with her.
"You're kind of really quite." The blonde commented, applying yet another layer of lip-gloss to her already shining lips. "Newbies are always screaming their heads off about something."
And to that, Ashley just shrugged. She wasn't always the talkative type, she liked keeping to herself.
"Well, you'll have to get used to talking here, Blue," Dinah sighed. "What's your name anyhow? Now answer that wisely, you can reinvent yourself here, baby girl. So choose who you want to be, where you want to go from here and work towards it, you know?"
"I can just...change my name?" It sounded ridiculous to Ashley, there were legalities to take into account but Dinah's shrug suggested otherwise.
It's not like it wasn't an appealing thought, Ashley had never much been fond of her name. She felt it bland in comparison to the person she once was.
Maybe a change was good.
God, she hoped a change could be good.
"So? What'll it be, Blue?" A perfectly arched eyebrow suggested Dinah's impatience.
"Halsey," The older girl nodded. "My name's Halsey."
