......................................................Jessie's POV
Helm Town is weird. When me and my family drove around the municipality until 9'clock before going to our new house. The town looks so peculiar. The houses and places were designed in a distorted way like it came out of the children's book. The colors of the place were unimaginably fantastic. There are places that have so much color that it looked like they came from storybooks. While other places are monochromatic. This place is awesome! Even my idiotic phone addict brother was in awe of the place. And of course my favorite little brother won't stop pointing at all the places he wants to go.
"Are we in Dr. Seuss' land, mommy?" asked by my little brother to my mom. "No sweetie but the place looks like one, isn't it?" answered by my mom. "Just a little, for me it kinds look like we are in Daniel Handler's imagination of A Series of Unfortunate Events" I exclaimed excitedly while looking around. "Are we in Disney Land or something?" Jacob said in annoyance.
Wow... he's back looking at his phone again and I thought he actually liked this place. I just rolled my eyes when he said this. I can't blame him, he misses his friends back at our 7th moved home.
"Cause' if I hear that freaking song, It's a Small World, I will go berserk." he continued. My mom giggled at this. "No, honey this town was created by Lord Tales 83 years ago. He had a vision of having a town filled of literature scenery. Well, more in children's literature specifically but it was only now that it was noticed by the public. Wonderful isn't it?" my mom replied and smiled satisfactorily at the place. Was she here before?
After a few moments, my dad shouted, "We are here gang!" Then the car stopped almost immediately. Woof Our new house is monochromatically black.
"Ummm... James are you sure this is our new house?", my mom asked. My dad scratched his head and looked at the paper where the address is. "Definitely, honey." my dad replied to my mom and laughed nervously as we drive to the driveway of the place.
As we got out of our car I stretched my body slowly. Sitting in the car for hours is so tiring and bad for my bones. Jacob was stretching his body while looking at his phone. "What the heck? You're still look at your phone while stretching?" I said to him in disbelief. He just smirked at me, that idiotic phone addict.
When I turned around my little brother was copying my stretching moves. I smiled at him. He is just adorable. When he saw me smiling at him he smiled back sweetly. I took his hand and walked towards our new house. Our stuff was in the front porch already. The Home Moving Services are really fast. I laughed at this thought. My family is one of their favorite costumers because we always move.
When my siblings and I went in the house our mouths were wide open. The two-storey house is black from the inside and out. I looked at my twin and we grinned at the same time. Black is our first favorite color.
My mom was astonished on what she is seeing. I and my brothers started laughing at her and stopped immediately because she gave us her favorite face expression stop-laughing-and-behave face.
"Mallory, just relaxed it is just a color we can make some changes to the house. Okay?" My dad said looking at mom earnestly while rubbing her shoulders. "James, black is not a color because color is in the presence of light and corresponds to the electromagnetic radiation of light. Black is not defined as a color because it is the absence of light." my mom replied with such authority with raised eyebrow plus her arms are crossed. I love my mom so much.
My dad laughed at her and said to us, "Kids choose which rooms you like except the biggest one because that is for your mom and me." My brothers and I started running frantically to the second floor. The stairs were at the center of the house so we dispersed to the right and left. I run to the left and checked each room with Sam while Jacob went to the right side.
The first room was colored light gray and very well-lighted. This room is very bright. I don't like it and went to the next room. This one is big with a big walk-in closet and a king size bed plus the bathroom has two faucets. The color of the room was white with German tiles, definitely my parents' room. Sam was jumping on the bed of the first room we checked. "I like this room!" he said happily. "It just needs color blue and I'm good!" he continued. I smiled at him and went to the right side of the second floor.
Jacob was already placing his stuff in the first room. His chosen room was spacious with a queen-sized bed and walls colored in dark gray. Adding to that, it was not that bright and has bookshelves. It was a dreamy room. I guess I have to check the other two rooms now. The room next to my brother was smaller and has a regular sized bed. I like small spaces but I need to compete with brother. So, I checked the room across Jacob's room. When I opened the door I was surprised with a narrowed staircase.
I thought this house is two floors only. Maybe I need to look at the house outside again later. Anyway I climbed the stairs and opened a door in front of me since there are no other ways leading anywhere. As I looked into the place I was baffled. The room was round, the wall was wood with a color of mahogany, and the room was spacious.
Adding to its charm, when I looked up the walls the upward were not mahogany but of lighter color with shelves. Woof my room has bookshelves surrounding the walls and a window as a roof over my room. It is not that bright and not as big as my brother's. It was just right. I smiled brightly and lie myself on the bed. I love my new room.
