Chapter 1 ~ ''I'm still here.''

I was in School, looking out the window, not paying attention to the teacher. ''Kayleigh? Kayleigh?'' I looked away from the window to find the owner of the voice, even though I already knew who it was. I finally was able to find him, he sat on the left next to the chair in front of me. It was Carl Grimes, my best-friend.

''Still not paying attention?'' He asked with a smirk. ''So? There's not many people here anyway, what's the point of us actually being here?'' I replied with sass and he chuckled. We both started to laugh, then the announcer came on.  ''Kayleigh Lyon and Carl Grimes, please report to the Principal's office and bring your things. Thank you!'' The announcer finishes.

Me and Carl look at each-other with confused looks but we shrug it off, grab our things and head to the Principal's office. The journey there was mostly me pushing Carl or Carl pushing me. The only sound that filled the hallways was my giggles, Carl's chuckles and us getting pushed into the lockers by the other. When we got to the office, we saw Lori and Shane. They both had worried expressions on their faces. When Lori saw us, she ran and hugged both of us tightly. ''We have to go. Kayleigh, your mom, Mark and Elyse are at a camp along with your Aunt Carol and your cousins.'' Lori said, I nodded.

We headed to a car and drove off. I was in the backseat with Carl, Lori and Shane were in the front and Shane was driving. In the backseat between me and Carl was a duffel bag full of guns and other weapons.

I looked over at Carl who was looking out the window and poked him. He looked at me then smiled and I pointed to the bag. He looked at the bag with wide eyes then sat at the edge of his seat. ''Why on Earth are we taking guns with us!?'' Carl asked sounding panicked.

''We'll explain why we have the guns and why we're going to this camp when we get there, okay?'' Lori said, me and Carl just nodded in response.

We made it to the camp after a 1 hour drive. I got out the car and slammed the door closed, but when I did, a bullet barely missed my head. ''Why the heck are shot's getting fired!?'' [Triggered >.<] I yelled then a girl with dark dirty blonde hair stepped out from behind a tree, holding a gun. As soon as she was in clear sight, I knew it was my cousin...''ERIN!!'' I yelled as she lifts up her head and runs towards me with wide arms.

I ran towards her and jumped, wrapping my legs around her waist and hugging her tightly. I buried my face into her neck. Lori and Shane said they would explain everything when we got her but they told us in the car. I finally stopped hugging Erin then I saw my mum, my step-dad Mark, my little sister Elyse, my Aunty Carol, my cousin Sophia and my Uncle Ed.

Elyse and Sophia turned their heads and smiled widely at the sight of me. I held my arms open wide and they ran to me. My mum turned her head when she saw Elyse running and looked at me. Everyone else came and hugged me, but even then after that, my mum still looked at me without saying a word.

I could feel people staring at us from either side of us or behind us. ''I though you were dead.'' She said while crying tears of joy. ''Well, I'm still here.'' I said while crying tears of joy and laughing.

After a few seconds, I ran and hugged her tightly but not to tight so I wouldn't hurt the babies. She buried her head in my neck and I rested my head on her shoulder.

We pulled away from each-other then Mark, Elyse, Erin, Sophia, Carol, Ed, Lori and Carl came over to us. They were all talking and Carl led me into the woods by pulling my wrist. We finally got to the woods and stopped by a huge tree.

''Carl?'' I asked looking at him. ''What's up?'' He askes while looking back at me and smiling. ''Do you think the world will go back to normal after all this calms down?'' I ask putting my head on his shoulder. ''Yeah, why? Do y--'' Carl was cut off by a lot of groaning and moaning then I spotted at least 30 of those things. Carl started climbing up the tree and signals me to do the same. I shook my head 'no' because I was afraid of heights and he knew that. I told him to get up the tree because I knew they were super close.

Carl looked at me for a few seconds with a worried look on his face but soon done as told. He got to the top branch of the tree and looked down at me. I saw a pointy stick near the trunk of the tree so I picked it up. As I grabbed the stick, one came up behind me, I turned around and stabbed the things eye with the stick.

Two more came and I hit them in the head with either end of the stick. One came behind me and fell on top of me. ''KAYLEIGH!!'' I heard Carl scream from the tree. The next thing I knew, guts spilled onto my back. There was a boy with a machete killing them. I then heard gunshots and all the walkers were dead.

''You okay?'' The boy asked. ''I'm fine. Wait, Blake?'' I asked with a happy tone. ''Kayleigh?'' A girl from behind me asked. ''Clarissa! Blake!'' I shouted. I tried to get up but I fell. ''Kayleigh! Hang on!'' Carl shouted from the tree, making his way down it.

''Carl! Your alive! I thought you were dead babe!'' Clarissa said to Carl. She went to hug him but he pushed past her and came to help me. Clarissa looked at me like she could plant a bullet in my head. She had a crush on Carl and he knew that but he didn't like her which I thought was hilarious!
