Mikaelson house, the next morning

"Good morning" Mary said to Hope, Elijah and Camille, who walked in the kitchen. With a good morning back at Mary they sat down at the huge breakfast table.

"Klaus?" Mary asked.

"I think he came late last night" Elijah replied.

"Right. He won't be up before lunch?!" Mary stated,"I will drive you to school then."

"It's not necessary Mary" Elijah got up from yhe table,"I will take her. I have some meetings in town"

"All right" Mary replied "Shall I do dinner as per usual?"

"Yes" Elijah replied.

After breakfast, they left, but not before Elijah told Mary that he will talk to her about what had happened the night before and who Elena was and what she was doing there.

French Quarter

Elena spent the night tossing and turning. It was needless to say that she nursed a tiny hangover from the Bourbon neat she had the night before with Elijah and Klaus.

She took a deep breath as she reached for her phone. Swiping it open a bunch of messages popped up. Most were from Bonnie and some from her parents.

I hope you are ok. What are you doing in New Orleans? Sudden getaway plans? Call later. Love, mom. Xo

She put the phone down and went to have a shower and get dressed. All the time she had one thing on her mind, and it was the letters she had read several times over after she got back to the hotel.

"Dear Ms Mikaelson,

I am writing to you, because I - had to leave. I didn't want you to get in trouble because of me. There is also one more thing why I decided to leave. I am pregnant. And I need to make sure my baby is all right. Johnny is too involved with the cartel and I- just had enough. He will never change. I want to thank you for everything you've done for me. I've already found a family that will adopt the baby. She deserves to have a better life. I just can't do it. I'll then go north or maybe Europe. If it is a girl I'll name her Elena, and if it's a boy- I don't know. But something tells me it's a girl. Thanks again for everything you've done for me. I hope you understand why I am doing this.

Isobel"

And then the second letter, from Dahlia Mikaelson to Elena.

"Dear Elena,

even though we had never met, and you may find my decision to leave you a share of the houses rather strange, I assure you that this decision was one of the easiest I have ever had to make. Namely, you are part of this family as much as Elijah, Klaus and his daughter Hope is. If it wasn't for you grandmother, I would not be here today writing this letter. After a faithful car accident, where my sister died, leaving two boys behind, I was fortunate enough to get a kidney and heart transplant. It took me a long time to find out who it was from, as I wanted to meet and thank the family in person. After a while I had found a sixteen year old girl, very troubled and tried as much as I could to get her back on her feet.

Unfortunately, it had not worked out as I had hoped. Upon receiving the letter, I tried to find Isobel, your mother, but all trails would always get cold. Then years after I have found you, living happily in Mystic Falls, with a wonderful family, having a good life. That gave me some peace of mind. I sincerely hope that you will have a great and happy life.

Please find a letter of your mother enclosed.

Faithfully,

Dahlia Mikaelson"
