Episode: Season 3 - No Rest for the Wicked Pt. 1
As I began to pack up the few belongings I had into a suitcase - including the spell book Philippe had insisted I take - I stopped a moment to grab my phone from the nightstand. Scrolling down, I noticed I had another missed call from Sam. Sighing, I pressed 'play' and I heard his voice come through the line, making my heart ache.
"Parker, hey, it's Sam. This must be like the 100th time I've called you. I just wanted to make sure you're okay. Things are pretty bad here. Dean..."he started and I heard his voice break from emotion before continuing, "Dean only has thirty hours left. We found his contract is held by a demon. Her name's Lilith. Bobby's helping us try to get the contract but we still need you. Please come back, Parks. I can't- I...I can't do this without you,"
Tears brimmed in my eyes and I put a hand to my mouth as the message finished.
"If you come, we'll be in New Harmony, Indiana."
The call ended then and I squeezed my eyes shut, feeling a pit form in my stomach. The whole reason I'd fled in the first place had been because I didn't want them to have to make the choice between killing me for becoming a vampire or keeping me alive because I was their friend. Or suffer for having to see me this way. And by leaving, it seemed like I had made them suffer anyway. I abandoned them when they'd needed me the most. Throwing the rest of the clothes into my suitcase, I snapped it shut before tromping down the stairs to where Philippe awaited me.
A sad smile graced his face when he saw me and I frowned, missing him already. Setting my suitcase down by the front door, he pulled me into a tight embrace, chin resting on the top of my head. I heard him sigh, holding me tightly before I pulled back to look at him one last time.
"Be safe, okay? Don't let those hunters get you into any more trouble, understand?" he said, arching his eyebrows for emphasis.
I laughed, shaking my head, "Dude, you've really got to get over your hatred of hunters, you know that?"
He sniffed, "I don't hate them. I just strongly dislike their attitude,"
I shook my head just as he cupped my cheek, forcing me to meet his eyes again.
"Take care of yourself, Parker Martinez," he told me softly and I nodded, rubbing the back of his hand that held my face.
"I will. I promise." I assured him.
He gave me one last hug before I picked up my suitcase and headed out the door then to the taxi waiting on me. As I climbed inside, I told the driver where to go and slowly, the car pulled away from the curb. Glancing out the smudged window, I could make out Philippe standing on the porch, waving goodbye. I let out a sigh, leaning my head against the cool glass-paned window. It took a few hours and a few transportation switches to get there but finally, I made it to Indiana. The suburbs Sam had spoken of wasn't hard to find and before I knew it, I was on a deserted road, checking houses for the boys.
I pounded on the last house on the block then, my heart pounding in my chest. Maybe I had it wrong. Maybe this wasn't the right place. I checked my digital watch and cursed under my breath. Only 10 minutes now. I beat my fists against the wood over and over, tears in my eyes. I had to get in there!
I had to-to see him one last time. Suddenly, the door was yanked open and I was met with puppy-dog brown eyes.
"Sam!" I choked, falling into his arms.
"Parker! You-you came!" he breathed out in shock, holding me tightly, "Where were you? How have you been-"
"Sammy, there will be time for that later. Did you get the contract?" I cut him off, untangling myself from his arms as I brushed past him to the living room.
But I didn't get to hear his answer. Standing in the living room was a blonde girl who I assumed was Ruby, having never met her and someone else whose face I had been missing so much whilst I was away. My eyes connected to apple-green orbs and I let out a shaky breath.
"Hi, Dean."
