This is a poem I wrote one night because of the frustration I had been feeling. Everyone has a complex life with thousands of important things to keep at heart. But many of us treat others as they are unimportant. No one is superior. We are all equals, so let's act like it.

Take a moment and relax.
Think of moments in your past.
The good, the bad, all in-between
When you were six, thirty, or just fourteen.
The intricate story that you have written
Is like no other. Remember the kitten
When you were five?
Just a mere portion of a beautiful life.
You can probably recall
Many times of a rise and fall.
These pitiful memories flood your mind
And you desire to pause and rewind.
All of these moments and memories stay
In your heart until this day.
But as you walk by strangers in stores,
Have you thought about THEIR stories before?
The mom of Craig Lee.
Fighting cancer, is she.
A tumor is present in a woman, barely thirty
Mrs. Lee is desperate to be free.
The desire to die
not to lie
in misery, obliviously
has come upon her.
This craving has caused her boys to ponder.
Johnny and Craig
of a very young age
Ten years old
And they have just been told.
"She went in her sleep."
"her soul to keep."
"No more pain, it's all over"
"Such a kind, loving mother."
Johnny and Craig
of a very young age
Have no mommy anymore.
These are the children you passed in the store.
Walking with daddy, the three all alone
Missing the way mother's light had shone.
Could you have imagined this terrible thing?
No reason to laugh, no reason to sing.
The boys looked so sad.
You guessed, "It's their dad."
But child abuse was not the case
in this innocent part of the human race.
Next time you see someone you do not know,
Do not imagine their stories hollow.
There is a story behind everyone
Battles that have been lost and won.
