The Twins (drawn 2016)
Avelinn had forgotten how it felt to have the musty English-countryside air fill her lungs. While she dragged her battered grey suitcase behind her, she felt the anticipation creep up her spine once again. She carried her suitcase down the stairs of the train station, relieved to have finally finished the long trip to England from Southern Ireland.
Throughout the plane trip she had been seated next to her twin, Cian, who had his nose is a comic of some sort. Avelinn was never one for aeroplane travel, as she found the sensation in her ears the least bit comfortable. Much to her relief, they rode on the train from Birmingham airport to Oxford, where the Finnigan family would now live.
She hadn't been to England in many, many years. She only had faint memories when her dad, Seamus, brought her to London for a few trips to the Ministry of Magic, and introductory to the magical realm when she was only four years old.
Seamus Finnigan had fought in the battle of Hogwarts now 21 years ago, and the man almost immediately moved to Ireland afterwards, in which he worked for the Ministry from. He also designed fireworks for many festivals around Europe. The family of five had quite an eventful New-Years every year in which the father would show off to his three children and wife.
He met a beautiful muggle, Ida, at a small grocery store in Tralee, in his many travels across the country. They married after two years of 'courtship', and a few years later found that Ida was pregnant with a child, but were more than surprised when two entered the world. Avelinn always knew that something happened between Dean and Seamus years ago, but the details remained a mystery. Uncle Dean was a friend.
Avelinn and Cian were extremely close since they were born, and of course, grew up side by side, and were inseparable, although they did have a few disagreements occasionally. When their little brother Eoin came along, both their parents found it a challenge to juggle two 3 year olds and a new-born, so they invested in a nanny Janette, and fine woman who loved all three children with her big heart.
Avelinn was interrupted from her warm memories by her twin brother nudge in her ribs.
"Ow! Why would you do that?" she asked, frowning at Cian.
He put his hands up in defense, "I just wanted to say, isn't this exciting?"
"You mean 'ask', oh and..." she paused and took a great big breath, "yes, the exhilaration is affecting me substantially!"
"Can you stop with the fancy words?" he snorted, "Just because you were reading a dictionary on the train doesn't mean you have to be one."
"You mean... impersonate," Avelinn replied, giggling, "and by the way, I was just wondering what a certain word meant that was on a the back of the plane safety pamphlet and then came across many other words, and were interested in their meanings. It's called being curious."
