I glanced at the clock.  four minutes.  I looked at my science homework.  It was way too much effort for my eighth hour.  I glanced up again.  three minutes.  I looked back down to my science homework.  ugh.  I looked across the room at my best friend, Eliza.  She wiggled her eyebrows, making me giggle.  Our teacher, Mr. Greene, gave me the hairy eyebrow, almost seeming to say, "How dare you find something funny?"  I looked down at my paper again, pretending that I actually cared.  I looked at my watch.  two minutes.

My friend Stephen, sitting on my right, poked me.  I looked over; he pointed to one of the questions on his paper, and smiled at me with a begging smile, saying "please?"   I sighed.   I looked at his question, pointing to the right answer.  (It was multiple choice.)  He looked up at the clock, and I glanced up too. one minute.  I started packing up my stuff, just as the bell rang.  Eliza jumped up and raced over to my desk, almost knocking over Stephen as she headed towards me.

"Are you ready for the BEST weekend of your entire life  Abigail Margaret Wilson??"  She yelled, embarrassing me quite a bit.  Stephen snickered, and she whirled around and punched him lightly on the shoulder.  "Do you have a problem with what I said, Stephen Eugene Thompson?"  (She liked to say our middle names when she was being loud.  I have no idea why.  It just made her more obnoxious.)

At that point I snickered at him.  "Hey guys, let's go find Dylan; he's probably so focused on his artwork, that he didn't even notice the bell rang."  We headed towards the art room, bumping into students rushing towards the bus.  Thank goodness we only had to walk two blocks to get to Eliza's house.  I hated taking the bus.  You either had to deal with nerdy little freshmen, or obnoxious little kids.  Either way, it wasn't pleasant.  Not to mention that it's embarrassing to have my license and not use it very much.

When we walked into the artroom, Dylan was still doing his artwork, as usual.  Stephen walked over, and grabbed the sheet of paper, holding it over his head so that Dylan couldn't reach it sitting down.  Dylan jumped up and elbowed Stephen in the chest, making Stephen groan dramatically, and drop to the floor.  Dylan took the opportunity to grab his sheet of paper.  He stepped over Stephen, and put his artwork away.

Eliza, seeing the whole thing, was scolding them with a smile on her face, and I was outright laughing. I couldn't help it, they were my friends, and they could be stupid sometimes, but they were pretty funny too.

Once Dylan got up, we went to our lockers, got our stuff, and started walking to Eliza's house.

Author's notes:

-For all of the people who are freaking out because Abby (Abigail, the main character) thinks that freshmen are nerdy, calm down. relax.  breathe in. breathe out.  First of all, Abby's a nerd herself.  She's only calling freshmen nerdy because a lot of the freshmens at her school are immature and annoy her.  (one of the only elements of the story that is similar to my life.)  And for the record, I don't hate freshmen either, in fact quite a few of my friends are freshmens.  (They are the few freshmens who don't annoy me.)

-the names are pretty random, as far as last names.  I used a list of 100 most common surnames, and I'm sorry if anyone reading has a last name of Wilson or Thompson, I just figured they were good last names to use.
