Assassin's Creed : Golden Eye

Prologue

Hello people.

I am Sam Rock, a modern day Assassin. You must be thinking that I am a murderer-for-hire, who has a happy trigger finger. But you see, its a capital-A Assassin. And also, we are way beyond than just contract killers.

We call ourselves Assassins. We are group who exists to safeguard humanity's freedom. We were formed during the Egyptian Civilisation, and the founding members overthrew the power of Egyptian kings to pave way for the assassins to rule. And we did rule peacefully, creating the idea of democracy in Greece. But then, in the 10th century, the crusades happened. 

The crusaders came in Jerusalem to reclaim it from the Muslim rulers, who were us. Some of the crusaders came together and formed the Knights Templars, a group who wanted control over humanity, by propagating the idea of "order and purpose". To fulfil this propaganda, the templars seek out the Pieces of Eden, technology of the First Civilisation, who existed before humans and used humans as slaves by controlling them with these Pieces of Eden. They were wiped out by a huge solar flare, but the humans survived. 

Since these devices can control human minds, the Templars want them in their possession to bring down humanity's freedom. Ever since the crusades, the Assassins have been weak. We went into hiding, as most of the monarchs became Templars. Some popes have also been Templars, the ruthless of them being Rodrigo de Borgia, known as Pope Alexander IV. 

In the modern times, the Templars and Assassins are still locked into battle for possession over the Pieces. Assassins and Templars are spread all over the world, secretly fighting and excavating First Civilisation sites to find the Pieces and uncover the secrets of the First Civilisation. Templars had the upper hand, with all their resources. We have the government as our ally.

One such battle over a Piece of Eden happened recently, of which I was a part.
