"Spider-Man, Spider-Man, does whatever a spider can," the ringtone of my phone woke me up. Why haven't I changed that stupid ringtone yet, I thought as I found the phone on my bedside table and picked up the call.
"Hello? Felicity, are you there?"
"You woke me up, but yeah I'm here." I groaned.
"I have big news!"
"If it's anything about a new role, Piper, I don't want to know. My acting career is over, you know that."
"Come on, darling, you know that it's not! Anyway, I just got a phone call from Marvel."
I say up in my bed. It had been two weeks since the day of that dreadful audition and even though I knew that the part was not mine, I had been waiting anxiously every day for the call.
"Felicity, you got the part!"
"Are you trying to prank me? As if!" I started to laugh, but I wanted to cry.
"Don't believe me? Check Marvel's Instagram page!"
I went to Instagram and there it was. "New cast member revealed for the untitled Spider-Man movie: Felicity Knight."
I screamed with joy and threw the phone across the room. I had managed to get the role after all! After jumping on the bed with joy, I leaped off the bed back to my phone to find that my agent had hung up.
After calling at least ten family members/friends about the awesome news, I went up to the mirror and pulled my long brown hair into a sort of messy bun and changed into a black t-shirt and ripped blue jeans. Whilst in the middle of coating my lashes with mascara, the phone rang again.
An unknown number appeared on the screen, but I decided to answer it anyway.
"Hello? Is this Felicity Knight?"
"Yes," I replied.
"Hello, I'm Sarah Finn, one of the casting directors for the Spider-Man movie, and I just wanted to let you know that you have received the part of Gwen Stacy."
"Oh, thanks! Yeah, I already knew from Marvel's Instagram page, but thank you for calling." My voice sounded the happiest and most polite it had ever been.
"Oh, I'm sorry that you had to find out that way! Anyway, congratulations, and we will call you soon."
"Thank you, goodbye!"
Beep. The phone call ended.
I flopped down onto the soft, grey spinny chair in front of the desk in my cramped bedroom and span around for a while. I can't believe I'm acting beside Tom Holland as his love interest, in a SPIDER-MAN MOVIE!
And then, my phone rang again, from another unknown number.
"Hey, Felicity! It's Tom." I already knew who it was before he said his own name. What was Tom doing calling me?
"I just wanted to say congratulations on the part! You were so good in the audition and I am- I mean, the whole cast, is going to love having you on set!"
"Uh, thank you, Tom! I look forward to it. Anyway, I have to go because..." I looked around the room to try and think of a reason to hang up. If I were to talk to Tom any more, I would probably just embarrass myself!
"...because I have to walk my cat!"
"Uhh, okay? I'll see you soon, Felicity. And congrats!"
I hung up straight away. Why did I say that? I have to walk my cat? He's probably going to think that I'm even more stupid now!
The rest of the day I spent being overjoyed. I went out to the park and went for a run for a change. As I was scrolling through my emails, a particular entry caught my eye.
It was from Marvel Studios.
Filming starts in Atlanta in two days?NARRATOR'S POINT OF VIEW:
Tom put his phone on the hotel desk and smiled. She was so awkward that it was cute! He hadn't met any girl like her before, except maybe Zendaya - she wasn't self-centred at all and was just a normal girl who had a talent. And she was just as young as he was when he had landed the role of Spider-Man.I think we'll have a lot in common...Tom thought as he looked over the LA skyline.
