Walking in a haze Regan headed for her health classroom, "Regan!" Morgan? He's coming! Internally panicking she forced a smile as her boyfriend stopped her by lightly grabbing her arm. Flinching away she hugged her hands to her chest so he couldn't touch them, "What's wrong?""I-I'm sorry i-it was a big mistake." Feeling tears well up she ran feeling her mind screaming a million words at once as she darted the last few inches to her class. Stopping at the door way she wiped her tears with her sleeves taking a few deep calming breaths to slow her heart before forcing a happy look as she shyly entered the health room. Everyone's eyes boring into her as she slipped into her seat next to her best friend Natalie,
"How did yours and Morgan's date go?"
"I'd rather not talk about it." Seeing her besties worried look through the corner of her eyes she nodded as her friend mouthed 'that bad.'
"Everyone quite down!" Looking attentively at Mr. Larson she groaned as he wrote the bold letters smoking v.s. drinking on the snowy black tinted white board, "Who wants to share a common side effect of either of these?" Slowly raising her hand she felt her heart stop as he pointed to her with his uncapped dry erase marker, "Regan."
"Drinking can 'cause short term memory loss, or alcohol poisoning, smoking can 'cause lung cancer, and many other illnesses." Watching him quote her word for word she mentally praised herself,
"Good answer, anyone else?"
"Second hand smoking is just as bad sometimes worse." Flinching at someone's answer she felt an unpleasant memory bubbling up.
Standing next to the small bed Regan watched the color slowly drain from her grandpas face. Feeling her phone fall out of her hand not hearing it hit the ground as she watched his vital signs quickly drop until it read 0, "Someone help me!!!" Feeling tears rushing down her cheeks as 5 white dressed nurses and a doctor rushed in a surrounded her grandfather,
"Someone get her out of here!"
"I'm not leaving my grandpa!"
"Come on honey." Struggling as someone pulled her out of the room.
Jerking back to reality as the school bell rang she stood up as she heard the teacher scrambling to say what tomorrow's topic is, "Tomorrow as well as next week we'll be talking about sexual orientation and gender identity!"
"Hey, Regan can I walk home with you?" Nodding she lead her best friend down the empty hallway no one really used to the back door, "Are we allowed this way?"
"I go this way all the time, and plus I don't want to see Morgan."
"You guys fighting?" Shrugging she sighed, "What happened Reg?"
"On our date my parents had to stay late at work for a big project so me and Morgan went back to my house to hang 'cause I felt a little gross. It happened so fast I thought it was gonna' be just kissing but-before I knew it it turned into more." Feeling disgust sqeltching in her stomach at the thought of what happened,
"Did he really take your virginity?"
"Yeah, I was kissing him and before I knew it he was taking my clothes off I told him to stop but he didn't he just kept going." Feeling Natalie stop her by grabbing her shoulder she growled in frustration,
"Did you want it to happen?" Crossing her arms she fearfully sighed,
"No, I don't know!"
"It's okay Reg, I'll keep him away if you want but let's get going." Nodding she kept walking thinking over every crumb of meal sized detail of what happened between her and Morgan.
