Appreciation

Zane's POV

"Aphmau, I really don't think this is necessary..."

"Oh c'mon Zane! It's not that bad. It'll be great!"

I sighed and stepped out of the bathroom. Aphmau was holding up her phone, recording me. My face turned red of embarrassment.

"Awww! You look so cute!"

Aphmau put put down her phone when she was done recording. She giggled, looking up and down at me.

"I'm so glad I thought of this," she mumbled under her breath, smiling.

Aphmau told me to put on cat ears and a tail so it would gain attraction to the maid café. I was just glad I wasn't the only one.

I straightened out my vest and pulled down my gloves to show I had composure.

"Remind me again why we have to wear these." I grumbled.

"Because," Aphmau started while placing a headband with cat ears on her head, "This will attract more customers since we're the only maid café doing costumes, and to shine more light on Kawaii~Chan!"

I looked over to Kawaii~Chan. She was talking to customers and taking orders. She bowed when she was done and headed back over to the kitchen. I noticed how she had a slight skip when she walked.

"Ok, fine. I understand. But it doesn't mean I'm gonna like it. These ears make me look and feel ridiculous."

Aphmau rolled her eyes.

"Stop complaining. Kawaii~Chan's done a lot. She designed the uniforms and she's super fast when serving. She works hard and she loves this place."

I looked around. Everything was running smoothly. Almost every customer had their food. Kawaii~Chan came out of the kitchen with a tray of orders and handed them out to the respective tables. Fast, efficient, and clean.

I sighed and nodded. "Fine. I won't complain." Aphmau smiled at me.

"Great! I'm going to help in front. You can help out wherever. Go see if anyone needs help. Try the kitchen or storage."

I nodded and walked back. I entered the kitchen and watched as food was being placed on the counter.

"Order for table 6!" One of the chefs yelled placing several plates on the counter. I went to pick them up, but a small hand touched mine.

"Oops! Sorry Zane~Kun!" A sweet, apologetic voice said to me. I looked down and saw Kawaii~Chan standing there with a smile. I felt my face heat up, but thankfully, my mask covered it up.

"It's no problem, Kawaii~Chan. It's probably your table anyway." I helped her get the plates onto her tray. She smiled up at me and turned away to get the food to the table.

"Order for table 9!" A chef yelled.

I snapped out of my thoughts, not knowing I was even daydreaming. I grabbed a tray and placed the food onto it. I pressed my hand on the doors out of the kitchen.

I headed my way to table nine and noticed that many people looked happy when they left. I also heard many good things about Kawaii~Chan.

"That pink maid was so cute!"
"She was so sweet!"
"Man, I haven't had service this fast before!"

I smiled to myself as I placed food on the table. I mumbled an 'Enjoy' to the couple I was serving. The man nodded to me and began talking to his girlfriend.
