Deep in the dark where my soul hangs out
Lives another
Who is always lurking about.
One could say it is a sister or a brother.
But on labels we shall not dwell
Let's just call it my partner.
But let me warn you of its spell
It loves to cast on any foreigner.
It draws you in with its giving warmth
Through the darkness it's tentacles reach
And slowly wraps you in its love it puts forth, But then it begins the beach.
Removing your defenses piece by piece.
With tender lover and care
Until at last you feel at peace.
And then it brings you it is lair.
Once there it turns to stone and ice
And the love you thought it held
Begins to squeeze you like a vise.
Struggle as you will thy efforts will be repelled.
Ah my heart is quite the vile trickster,
Yes this evil thing is indeed my heart.
And it shall not be tamed by any elixir.
It is as subtle and deadly as a silent noxious fart
