"Congrats, Seokjin!"

"What?"

Seokjin gave a confused look to his co-workers as he stepped closer to his desk, putting his arms around him while patting his back with the most absolute happiness.

"Ah, you're being humble about your promotion! No need, we're all happy for you!" Seokjin's eyes widen at the word "promotion".

What promotion?

He was promoted?

He didn't know whether to act dumb or not, but decided to play along to not disappoint his co-workers. He plastered on his biggest smile and he hugged back.

"Thank you! I'm very happy to be given this opportunity, it only comes once in a lifetime." He said though he was in the most uncomfortable situation ever. More uncomfortable than the situations he was put in while he was in college.

"We heard that you'll be working with the big guys! No need with working with us detectives now."

"Big guys... Meaning special agents, huh?"

Seokjin was trying to put puzzles pieces together in his head and his co-workers were helping by providing the pieces. After talking and talking, and saying thank you continuously, he ended up going to his boss's office, wanting to know about his immediate and sudden "promotion".

He walked into his boss's office, closing the door behind him.

"Excuse me but how come everyone knows that I got promoted except me?" Seokjin spoke softly. There must've been a reason why he's was promoted so suddenly, he's been a criminal psychologist for a couple of years now. The only think that was wracking through his head was— why wasn't he told.

"Oh, Seokjin!" His boss was in the middle of reading through reports and signing papers, she didn't even seem to notice that Seokjin even walked through the door until he spoke. She set the papers in her hands on another part of her desk, smiling, giving her full attention to her employee. "Now, what brings you here? Something's wrong?"

"Uh, did I really get promoted? Everyone's telling me that I am but I wasn't told by anyone, at all." The smile that rested on her face faded and she mentally sighed at the blabbermouth investigators for talking to Seokjin. So much for being quiet about it. "Am I getting fired?"

"Ah, I see... I apologize for the sudden confusion. You see, you are being promoted, but you were not to know this soon."

"Why not?" Seokjin suddenly spoke out, he was a man that needed a lot of answers just to understand a situation. Lots of questions would like to leave his mouth like a young child would.

"There was still things that needed to be situated before you were told. But since no one around here likes to keep their mouth zipped, might as well tell you." She reached over to one of her desk drawers, shuffling though files upon files until she took out a soft grey file folder. She motioned Seokjin to sit in one the chairs that resides in front of her desk. Seokjin wasted no time to sit as he was eager and curious to what needs to be said. His boss opened the folder and faced it towards Seokjin.

Seokjin gladly took it as he quickly read the contents in the file.

A serial murderer?

He was confused on what was so important about a serial murderer. He looked at the photo clipped on to papers. It was a man, young, with black hair and a stern look on his face.

"That's Kim Namjoon. He's a serial killer as you can see, as of now the public knows he only has killed five people, but we know that he's killed over sixty people possibly, judging on the bodies we've found. Luckily, he was captured during his little rampage at a gas station near the country side. So far that has been put under wraps by higher ups. Seokjin, he's one of the most ruthless serial killer in South Korea, no one has seen anything like him."

Seokjin was more in shock at the fact that everything that Kim Namjoon has done has been hidden from the public. The most Seokji has see in his career are runaways, overdoses, attempts of suicide, domestic calls, police chases but never serial killers. It was basically never heard of.

"He's in one of the most highest security prisons right now but has no appending trial—"

"What? If he's known to kill at least five people publicly, then if he's put in front of a judge and jury he'll be convicted! Why doesn't he have an trial coming up?!" The vein in his neck was probably popping out his neck, pulsating, because of his rabid anger. He always stood on the side of justice, though he wasn't able to become a police officer himself, he was able to become a psychologist to help others.

"Calm yourself, Seokjin! Let me finish— Kim Namjoon is someone that we have never seen before and to prevent another event like this to happen, we must be able to understand his brain and how he thinks. So we're keeping him alive, for now, I fought long and hard just to able to get you this position. You'll be transferred for the Federal Bureau of South Korea to work within a small team who only knows about Kim Namjoon and his actions. This whole unit is dedicated to finding everything about him and hoping to reconstruct his behavior so he can be back into society. This is something revolutionary and I know you'll be the best to be a part of it. You are one of the best psychologist South Korea has to offer, anyway."

The psychologist eyes widen. He couldn't believe what he's being told. He felt overwhelmed at this, it's a sudden change to his work and most importantly his life. He gladly wants to be part of it, but at what cost? He could be a part of something that could prevent serial killers like Kim Namjoon from existing, this could help prevent crime all together! Who wouldn't want a world where crime virtually did not exist?

Why would Seokjin even refuse?

"I'll do it! I'll start right away! I want to help in anyway I can." Seokjin felt a sudden rush of adrenaline, a euphoric sensation, and mixed that his strong sense of justice, he was someone— so determined it's beyond understandable. His superior smiled at Seokjin's graditude and proceeded to help Seokjin by filling him in details and instructions.

In a long time, Seokjin was finally excited.
