Never follow the path

Chapter 1

1.

-Rita's POV-

I stepped towards the taxi. The only one that noticed me waving. Why does there have to be so many people in New York? I have things to get on with and I don't need about 2000 people getting in my way. Ugh.

"Where to love?" The man driving in the taxi asked me. I looked up.

"Forest near the airport." I said quietly. I HATE talking to strangers. Everything is so awkward, you don't know the right thing to say!

He nodded and began fiddling with his jacket. He sat there staring out the window. I got fed up.

"Now!" I shouted, snapping him out of his daydream. He looked at me, hard.

"Don't shout at me." He said in a low voice. I sat up tall and began texting on my phone like he didn't scare me but he did in every way possible.

5 HOURS LATER

He started driving non-stop and he had obviously gone past the forest I wanted to go to. My boyfriend was there waiting for me because we were going to have a cabin holiday.

He suddenly stopped the car at some creepy, weird forest, got out, ripped open the car door, grabbed my stuff and threw me and the bags out.

"Here, this place should teach you a lesson!" He growled, pointing at the trees and the dark sky.

"Wait!" I shouted running towards him, "You can't leave me here!"

He turned around and stared at me. His eyes were black. No white, no pupil just pure black. I gasped and fell to the floor. I began crawling away from him and stopped when I believed I was far away from him. I turned my head to see nothing but trees and sky. I looked to my left, then to my right. Nothing to be seen. I was the only living soul here.

I was scared. Very scared.

I looked at the ground and saw I was sitting on concrete. I looked behind me and the concrete was a path. A path to something, I wasn't sure what. I stood up and began following it.

Something didn't feel right. Something was watching me. Then it jumped down from the tree behind me.
