~Chapter 2~

Sam continued up the stairs, stopping every know and then to listen if an orc was coming.

It took him a while to get to the top of the stairs. The tower was taller than he thought. He got to the top and realized something was wrong. He spun around.

Two huge orcs where heading towards him with giant orc swords. The larger one slashed at him. He dodged and sliced the orc in the belly. The smaller one jumped at Sam. Sam blocked and stabbed the orc.

The orc crumpled and fell. The larger orc got up painfully and charged at Sam. Sam again dodged. The sword nicked his left arm. He changed at the orc. The orc crumpled down next to the smaller orc.

Sting was glowing fiercely. Sam looked around the room for Frodo, there was nothing. He slumped against the wall.

He was to late, he failed Frodo.

Sam had sat there for quite a while before he heard another orc coming up the stairs. Sam hid behind the crates and watched.

The orc tapped the far wall and a ladder came down. He climbed up and opened a trap door. Sam listened to what the orc was saying.

"Dirty little halfling." the orc spat. "They say we have to keep you alive, but that doesn't mean we have to keep you in full health." The orc chuckled. "Even though you aren't even in full health now."

Sam heard the sound of a whip. His heart clenched as he heard a weak scream of pain. Sam scrambled towards the ladder. Another scream echoed in the tower.

Sam sprang at the orc holding the whip. The orc spun around to see who attacked him.

Sam blocked the attack by the orc, and disarmed him. The orc slammed into him. The blow knocked Sam to the ground.

Sam wrestled with the orc. The orc was winning. Then the orc tripped and fell into the trapdoor and down the stairs, most likely breaking his neck.

Sam lay there, catching his breath, for a few minutes until a thought sprang to his mind.

He sat up and a gasped out "Frodo!"
