In the beginning everything was okay, until it wasn't.

"Jack! Come on, let's go get mommy!" The little girl tugged on the short, brown haired Irishboy. He giggled and following her, still loosely holding her soft pale hands. He was happy.

And then he saw it.

It wasn't his mother anymore. It was a crazed drunk, hunched in the corner. She had clear, salty tears streaming down her face. The two children stood there astonished. They stayed silent to just barely hear the shaky breathes of their mother. The little girl was the first to have enough courage to ask the question.

"Where's daddy?"

The woman didn't answer. She just cradled her knees closer to her chest, like she was sinking into the corner of the room. The little girl stepped closer and grabbed her mothers wrist.

"Mommy, are you okay? Where daddy?"

The woman answered this time, with a horrid shriek. She glared at her daughter who was now even more terrified. The woman seemed to growl and sat up just a pinch straighter.

"Your father is gone. Now go to your rooms."

Jack gritted his teeth together and finally built up the strength to get closer to his scary mom.
