❝WHAT DO
YOU WANT
TO BE
WHEN YOU
GROW UP?❞The question rang constantly throughout ones childhood, their entire lifetime spent hearing the question and repeating answers. Sometimes people gave ridiculous responses, "a princess!" some little girls would yell or "president!" As more time passed by, people's answers would mature, become more realistic. "Doctors" and "Teachers" and classes at school to advance to their wanted careers. Yet some people's mind never left the unrealistic idea of being what they truly wanted to be, deciding to keep their childhood dream. For as long as Kenny could remember, he only had two answers for the question, to be a teacher or a wrestler. And Kenny? He made his dream realistic, he chose wrestling of course. It was fun, and he was absolutely in love with it, more so than he loved dogs (which was a lot).
Yet, being a wrestler meant facing many hardships. Of course there was the physical aspect of it all, it hurt more than what people would think because "it's fake". Gravity was still a thing, whether haters wanted to admit it or not. It took a lot of mental and emotional strength. Whether it was training in the ring, working on characters, promos and the overall ability to portray a story, that kept people invested. Sometimes though, as many amazing people as there was in the wonderful world of wrestling, there would be some promotions-some workers who were horrible making the experience terrible, draining those of their mental and emotional strength.
When Kenny had started, he wasn't sure where exactly he wanted to go, or what he wanted to do. He wanted to have fun, and he wanted to be the best, but, wasn't that everyone's goal? There was getting to the WWE, that's what sounded right, that's what everyone else did, that always seemed to be the one thing set into mind. That's what anyone would tell you if you asked, that they all dreamed of going to the WWE, having the big Wrestlemania moment, and winning the Heavyweight Championship.
He had found himself contracted to the WWE, their developmental promotion called Deep South Wrestling. There, part of his naive and trusting nature was destroyed. Somehow, one single promotion, one single man had nearly ruined it all for him.
So he left- getting to WWE was not nearly worth dealing with the shit he had gotten there. He went back to promotions that he had previously known or been in. But the entire time it felt like there was something missing, he needed more.
One day he heard other guys talking about a place called DDT wrestling, he had heard of it before. That day, he had caught his friends watching a match. Kenny was pulled in within seconds. The guys movements, the way his body moved, going through the sequences, Kenny had never seen something like that before. It was entrancing, and it was like everything else stopped as he watched him wrestle.
Ever since he had gotten into wrestling, Kenny had been drawn to the Japanese style. It was strong, and that attracted his attention. But this man, he took it to a whole new level. The Japanese style was obviously there, and he utilized it well, but, he had even taken pages out of Lucha-Mexican influenced wrestling. And it had worked for him. Never had Kenny seen such a high flyer be so hard hitting, he didn't even remember the likes of Rey Mysterio being like that. That moment he knew he wanted to know more.
