Yein sighed heavily. He glanced at a piece of paper on the wall. He had given up.
Yein had loved singing since he was 5 years old, but he felt like he had disappointed himself. He auditioned for the school music club and his voice wasn't at his best condition. Frustrating. He couldn't reach the high notes he usually could, his voice was shaking and the most embarrassing thing was he stumbled over nothing in front of the teacher and some senior members. He wanted to dig a big hole and hide himself in there! At least, the bad audition had passed.
He looked at the window, the sky was already dark and it was raining heavily. The rain often came at time like this, luckily he always brought his umbrella with him.
—I'm going home—
From: Yein
To: Gyujin
—Be careful, sorry you have to go home without me—
From: Gyujin
To: YeinHis classmate, Han Gyujin, was a sweetheart. Gyujin cared about Yein so much and Yein took care of Gyujin with his whole heart. He trusted Gyujin just like how Gyujin trusted him.
Unfortunately, Yein had to go home by himself. Gyujin hadn't finished his audition, in fact he was still waiting for his turn. Yein walked slowly, taking his bag and umbrella, walking to the front gate.
On his way, he saw a young man, probably was the student also who was standing on the way, looking at the rain. He walked to the guy slowly, afraid to surprise him. "You're not going home?" Yein asked softly. "No, I didn't bring my umbrella," the guy answered. His voice was gentle and his face was attractive. "Where is your house?" Yein asked again. "From here, turn right, then go straight. My house is right across the popular ramen shop." The guy answered, still looking at the rain. "Oh that one! I always walk there to go home. Should we go there together? We can share the umbrella." Yein gripped the umbrella harder until his knuckles turned to white. "Ah, it's okay, I'll wait here until the rain stops." Finally the guy turned his face to Yein and smiled. Oh, he's charming. "You sure? I watched the weather forecast today, they said it'd turn into a storm, so it's better to go now when the rain hasn't turned into a storm," Yein insisted and he felt he was winning over the guy because he could hear a faint sigh from the taller guy. "Fine," he says, taking off his warm jacket, "but you should wear this. At least cover yourself with this. You look so fragile like a thin glass, I'm afraid you'll feel too cold," Oh, right, Yein was trembling because of the chilly wind.
Pouting, Yein took the jacket and covered himself and his backpack with it. "Let's go," Yein mumbles, holding the umbrella. "Let me hold it for you." The guy took the umbrella and smiled.
Really, Yein didn't know what had gotten into him. He was smiling, feeling his face warm even though the wind was hitting his body from all directions. The guy's jacket smells nice, fresh, just like he had washed it with high quality detergent and sprayed with expensive perfume. He could wrap himself with the jacket right there at that time but he wasn't a stalker or a creeper. Not at all.
They spent their road with silence, if you excluded the sound of rain chasing each other. "What is your name?" The taller guy asked. "Seon Yein, from 12-C class," Yein answered almost hurriedly.
"I'm Go Minsoo, 12-B class,"
"Oh, our class is right next to your class!"
"Yeah, you're right," Minsoo laughed, unintentionally making Yein curved a smile on his face too."Isn't the umbrella too small for two people?" Minsoo laughed. "At least I have one, than none at all," Yein replied, letting himself lost in their own little world.
Then, Minsoo pointed at a house, quite big, but not luxury one. "That's my house," Minsoo said, "I lived with my big sister and my parents," Yein nodded, following the taller to the house. "Thank you so much for letting me borrow the umbrella," Minsoo says. "It's nothing, Minsoo. by the way, your jacket..." Yein was going to take off his jacket, but Minsoo stopped him. "No, it's okay! Keep it. You can turn it anytime you want," Minsoo said.
Yein tilted his head a bit. "But-"
"Yein. It's okay,"
"Okay,"
"You should go home now, it's getting darker and the rain could be worse than this,"
Yein smiled, thinking how sweet Minsoo was for caring about him."Thank you, Minsoo," Yein mumbles.
"No problem, Yein,"
