"so how do you like busan so far?" jimin's mother says.

"it's great. i'm starting college tomorrow.. and i'm going to have to speak in korean." i say.

"well, obviously." jimin's mother says as i finish off the milk jimin's mother gave me to drink.

"well, i'll just show y/n– i mean ayeong around town." jimin says.

"who's y/n?" i say.

"uh, it's a f–friend i met, she looks almost like ayeong.. so i get confused." jimin says.

"oh.. okay! you and jimin have fun! be back at 6!" jimin's mother says.

as we close the door behind i say, "why do you keep hiding the fact that i'm a foreigner?!"

"there are reasons–" jimin says.

"what reasons?" i say.

jimin takes a deep breath and continues walking.

"park jimin!" i say.

"what?" jimin says.

"you didn't answer my question." i say.

"i'm sorry that i have to tell you this but" jimin says, "you see.. people here are racist.. including my mom. so.. if she finds out that you're not korean.. that's the end of it. i want her to really like you."

"w–why?" i say.

damn.. jimin.. you got me stuttering.

"because you are an important friend." jimin says, showing his smile off.

and that's when my heart explodes.
