AN I really appreciate all the 'update now!' comments so now I'm updating... I either forgot what the plot was or never had one. So I'm just going go with it. Hopefully my writing has improved and will continue to...
Laken's POV
Seven weeks, it had been seven weeks since we left Alagaesia. And what have we found? Not a thing. How were we even going to find him it's been over 25 years since he left. All the information we got was he went this way you'll run into him if you follow.
I've seen bear, deer, and a few rabbits not a single human or dragon. We've been to where the world ends and back to Alagaesia four times. Well seen ice and snow in the in summer no dragons no humans.
At the end of world, where the icy ground drops into the sea, the days seem half as long as they should be cutting down our search time. But we have to find him, I don't know what he might know that could be worth all the travel and time, but I have my orders. Find him try to bring him back. He could have froze to death during the winter, and we're still here looking for him.
Grem roll over loudly his dark eyes locked on to mine lazily, before moving on to a bird that was singing happily in a tree near buy. I am sure he had thoughts about hunting down and eating the bird, but I had other thoughts that had been bothering me all morning. He was starting to sit up when I said." I was thinking, we've been going up and down the land seems to be getting longer the closer we get to Breoal. And the further north we go the more inhabitable the land becomes, we should finish going to Ceunon for more supplies we sh-"
Start heading east to west? I agree. But we both know that you don't need go back to Ceunon for supplies you just want to see Cad. Grem interrupted.
"If Lomnamnei was as close there would be nothing I could do to pull you way from her. And maybe I just wanted to sleep in a bed." We've had this conversation multiple times now, with nothing to do talk about how we're going to try find him. I know he misses her as badly as I miss him, we can feel each other's emotions after all. I got a quick vision of a deer running through the woods, Grem's way of saying his hungry. I watched him stretch, the mourning sun bouncing off his dark grey scales reflecting bits of light onto the ground around him. I always thought he was black before my eyes improved, most who see him think he's black if not for those comments I would have thought that he'd lightened with age. Not that he's old, he's only about four.
I began to pack up camp when he lifted off the ground and ascended above the mourning fog. This was the routine he'd go hunting and I'd pack everything I took out the night before. I never understood how some people can stay so organized some the one thing I need always ends up on the bottom... My mind started to wonder as I picked up our campsite, shoving everything in to the saddle bags. A vision of fire and the sent of smoke filled my longs. Its not that big, must be man made. Grem added right before he landed next to me.
This is the only real sign of human life we've seen out here. My heart picked up pace as I slid the saddle bags on Grem's back, and scrambled for my sword before jumping on Grem back also. I felt only anxiety as we took of heading east over the trees. Most of the fog had cleared making the smoke easily to spot.
I was being to think wasn't him, the closer we got with no reaction. Until that is we were greeted by a stunning red dragon and the fire that comes with it.
