You loved how happy Perrie made Zayn but a strong part of you always wanted it to be you.
I broke your heart tonight, crushed it more like, as you watched Perrie show off her ring.
He had proposed to someone he loved and who filled his heart with joy and that person wasn't you.
You smiled and clapped and adored the ring like everyone else at meal, but your chest hurt the whole time.
It still ached, yearned for something it wanted but could never have.
You felt a little overwhelmed by everything from the evenings events so you got up to leave just after the main course.
You congratulated the happy couple without meeting Zayn's eyes and headed for your car, you had to get out.
"I'll walk you to your car" Zayn offered.
You felt mean and rude to say no so you nodded shortly before walking out with Zayn following.
"Alright out with it"
"Out with what Zayn?' you asked still not looking at him in the face.
"Whatever is making you look like you want to cry, the reason you're leaving and why you won't even look at me Y/N." he stopped you infront of your car, out of view from the restaurant.
"You wanna know tha truth?, the real truth?" you turned towards him.
"Of course." he agreed.
"I'm like this because I'm not the one you are inlove with." you cried out.
You had waited a while to say something along those lines to Zayn and yet no weight was lifted when you did.
He kissed you quickly, softly and how you always dreamed.
"I'm sorry I left it until it was too late." he whispered stroking your cheek before walking back inside.
