Wow, I honestly never thought I'd see this stubborn redhead improve quickly. Sure, I should've expected that from a motivated girl like her. What motivating her though?

"Ha! Got ya!" I heard a voice come from behind me and a poke in my back. Rolling my eyes, I looked back at her and crossed my arms "Hey. I was deep in thought. That doesn't count." I replied.

Petra shrugged her shoulders with a smile forming her lips. "Like you said, when the opponent is distracted you attack." She commented "Your words not mine." She added while twirling her stick.

Sighing, my shoulder slumped. Who was I kidding, of course she'd use my words against me. "Fine. I'll let you have this point for now." I said defeated.

She whooped in victory "Finally, my butt is getting sore from slipping." She admitted. I didn't know whether to chuckle or just stay silent but under the mask I had a ghost of a smile forming.

Walking towards the exit, I looked back at her "You hungry or do you want to stay here?" I asked rhetorically. The redhead followed shortly after and walked to the area where dinner was prepared by none other than Ivor and Harper.

I watched closely as the two interacted playfully while cooking. Axel and Olivia arrived shortly after and practically ruined the moment by barging in. You could practically see Harper and Ivor glaring at them which caused me to chuckle softly.

We all sat down around the wooden table and shared a meal of steak and stew. It tasted...well bland for someone who's been eating the same meal for a while but the others seemed to enjoy it. Axel then interrupted "So, what are the dragons eating?" He asked curiously.

My eyes drifted towards the stables and replied "They seem to enjoy fish or other meat. Don't show them pufferfish or rotten flesh. They'll got nuts and probably kill you."

I immediately regretted the information I gave out because my eyes caught the movement his lips made. A smirk formed on his lips and he stood up and pretended to yawn "Well. I'm gonna catch some sleep." He called and walked towards the stables.

Sighing, I decided to let himself almost get killed. Not that I hated him, well kind of but that's not the point. He'll learn his lesson on his own.

A few moments passed by and we all heard Axel screaming while running away from a few fire blasts.

Both Petra and Olivia started laughing their butt off while Lukas seems to be busy writing in a...book? I didn't question him but went to calm the dragons down.

After a while of complaining with the dragons and promising them double the meal tomorrow I walked back and approached Axel "Learned your lesson?" I asked rhetorically.

Axel nodded quickly and nervously and glared at me...well he tried.

The redhead looked at me again but this time there was a glint of determination in her eyes. I answered the question in her mind "We'll keep practicing tomorrow at sunset. Don't be late."

I got up and stepped on the hard floor of the ground. Looking around I found the usual hole that led up to the top of the mountain. Sliding in, I worked my way around the sharp edge and climbed up.

Getting out, I felt the rush of fresh air hit my face and I breathed heavily. It's hard having to deal with a stubborn group that I don't usually get this much free time. What makes it worse is that it's a group that has abandoned me.

All these years I had convinced myself they didn't need me. They didn't want a weakling in their group. That's what motivated me to work harder, all the blood and tears I've shed to become what I am now. There are days where my heart would tell me I was wrong and that they needed me but my mind already made its choice.

I used to think the world was a peaceful place with only a few minor problems. Though now, I would remember how pathetic I was thinking that way.

Footsteps were heard behind me. They were soft but I could sense the seriousness. I looked behind me and noticed Gabriel. None other than the famous Gabriel that I admired up until this day.

"Deep in thought again?" He asked. The hint of concern in his voice seems to have gotten through me as I felt my body relax. Nodding, I answered "Yeah. It's hard having the people that betrayed you come back. But I guess life has it's choices for me."

Gabriel's lips tugged upwards a bit and he slowly took a seat beside me. "We'll protect them." He reassured. I looked back at him in confusion "Why would I be worried about protecting them?"

He gave me a serious look "Sometimes, the mind and heart clash into arguments that you don't exactly find the true answer. You care about them, it's just you have already convinced yourself you don't." He explained

"But when you've been stuck with these guys for most of your life, you don't exactly forget about them. Sure, you think about them less and less but you still think." I bit my lip, his words seemed true for a moment before I sighed. "Whatever you say, Gabriel." I replied.

He gave me a small smile before returning into the warm sanctuary.

That left just me and my thoughts.
