Trapped into a dream

Chapter 2: Nearby Death

After the loss of his arm, Erwin, was sitting all day and night at his office without going out not even once. He was depressed and scared at the same time about the future of the Survey Corps. Although, he already knew who would lead them instead of him at the battle.
Levi, at the other hand, was angry with himself. He was hitting walls, breaking things, crying. He couldn't believe that Erwin had such a bad injury from his own fault who didn't control his gas and his blades carefully. Once he started to calm down he sat at the bed and looked at his hands "humanity's strongest?
What a joke" he said to himself without realizing that Hanji had entered into the room. "More like humanity's hope" she said as a result Levi turn his head and looked a bit shocked seeing her standing at the door. "I don't feel like that Hanji" he answered and made his hands fists. Hanji sat next to him at the bed and hugged him "You're our hope. You give as a reason to fight. A reason to risk our lives. For a better tomorrow, for a future without titans" she said and after a while left him out of her hug. Levi looked at her confused and encouraged by her words "You're right. It won't change nothing if I'm seating here and regret my choices" he said and stand up "I will go and see Erwin" he added before go to  door and opened it.
When he reached at Erwin's office, knocked the door. "Yes?" Erwin's voice sounded tired, depressed and full of pain. That had as a result Levi's heart break in two, but he tried to control his feelings and talk behind the close door "It's Levi. I wanted to see you". Erwin gave him the permission to go in.
When Levi stepped in and saw the condition that Erwin was he broke down. His blue eyes couldn't be seen from the tears and his knees couldn't hold him still for long. All these had as a result to make him kneel down and cry.
"I'm sorry for what I did to you. I'm sorry for not being able to protect you!" Those words were the only ones that he could say.
Erwin seeing Levi in that condition made him feel like his heart break in two. He knew that it wasn't Levi's fault all that, but he couldn't talk. He was standing at his office looking at him without doing anything.
After a while he stood up and approached Levi made him stand up and looked him in the eyes "Dear soldier, dont cry for my loss. You have to keep fighting for a better tomorrow without titans".
After those words Levi took some courage, wiped the tears from his face and looked at Erwin "Commander, i wanted to know who will take your place at the battle till you get better"
Erwin looked at Levi and answered him with calm voice, but full of pain "I thought that Hanji is the best option. She's smart and she can easy lead the Survey Corps at the victory against the titans."
Levi stayed quiet for a while thinking Erwin's choice. He knew that Hanji was the best option and he didn't hesitate to tell that to Erwin. "You're right Erwin. Hanji is the best option. What about the soldiers? They need to know about the new commander"
"You will be the one who will tell them about the change" Erwin said and made Levi salute at that order "Yes, sir!" Levi was so sure about that choice and without second thought he gathered all the Survey Corps, including Erwin and Hanji.
Once they were ready Levi made the announcement "From now on and until commander Erwin feels better his place will be replaced by Hanji Zoe. I'm sure that she will be an excellent commander and she can lead us to the victory"
