When he was a kit his mother and father got killed by badgers. He wondered the forest and fell into a river. He got swept away to Thunderclans territory. He stayed there for days until a Thunderclan patrol came and took him in. Hawkshadow lived in Thunderclan until there was a prophacey and he had to leave his forest home to start a new clan in the snowy mountains. He soon became leader and had two kits of his own.
