Chapter 2 Lassie
I watched Charity the rest of the day, like any other day. I always watched her. Well, I had to sleep. But you know what I mean.
The rest of the day, she starred into nowhere. Like there was something there. She made me look there. Nothing was there. She was so mysterious. Words could only describe her. So delicate. Fragile. Beautiful.
It was 5 o'clock when she got done with classes. And detention.
She sat down in the courtyard to do homework. She did a little ballet dance right there. I was laughing so hard. But then, I approached.
"Hello" I said. Her smile quickly vanished. "Hi." She said. She had a slight accent. Western. Maybe...
"Hey, Lassie. I was wondering... how old are you? I mean... if your alive." I didn't know how to answer that. I didn't actually know. "I think I'm dead. At least, I think I am." She nodded her head. "So how old are you?" I asked. "17," She said, " I'll be here next year still." I nodded. Her accent was so strong, I had to ask "Where are you from?" She said "A farm in Kansas. I got a whole family back there..." She started to cry a little.
"What is it?"
She shook her head. "My sister"
"What happened?"
"She passed ... away." Her voice broke.
"Come on..." I lead her down into the valley and into the forest.
"What's this?" She said, looking at all the famous animals gathered. "Meet... my family. Well not really my family. But you know." Her tears were gone as she smiled at all the animals. "Felix! Felix the Cat! My parents have said so much about you." She said picking him up. "What about me?" Asked Garfield.
She stared at him. "Doesn't ring a bell."
I laughed as he shrugged and walked away. She cuddled Felix rocking him back and forth.
After she set him down I said "Follow me..."
She followed me down to the lake. I showed her the baby fish swimming in the water. She picked out 2 and puts them in the bucket I gave her. "I'll name you Aqua and you... Maria." She said.
That must be her sisters name because her voice broke. She cried. "It's okay. It's okay." I convinced.
We talked for awhile after she calmed down. Then we just watched the sunset. It slowly faded. When it got dark, she fell asleep.
We all carried her back to her room where we sit her on her bed. After we did that we went and fell asleep ourselves.
