(( I have a headcanon that after Jeremy drank the red Mountain Dew, it didn't turn the Squip off completely. The Squip is still there, but only knows logical things, acting like a normal computer and not an AI. ))

Jeremy. Jeremy, it's seven-thirty.

"Five more minutes."

Seven thirty-one. Wake up.

"I'm tired, though."

Get up or I'll shock you. This is your final warning.

I sighed, sitting up in my bed. My blinds were lit from behind by early-morning sunlight, and I could tell it was actually time to get up. Stumbling over to my dresser, I grabbed a random pair of shorts and a t-shirt from on the floor.

Jeremy, why is that shirt here?

"What do you mean, why is it here? It's a shirt, I wear it."

No, I mean why is Michael's shirt on the floor of your room?

"Michael's-" I looked down at the shirt. Green with a large white Triforce on it. Yep, it was Michael's all right. He must have left it here last time he slept over.

"He probably just left it behind last time he slept over. Don't worry."

He sleeps here sometimes?

"Yeah, it's a thing friends do. He sleeps over here all the time."

I don't understand. Why?

"You get more time to hang out with them."

Oh.

"C'mon, let's just get to school," I said, tossing another random shirt over my head. The Squip sighed as I shoved half a Pop-Tart in my mouth and ran to the bus.

"Jeremy! What's up?"

"Nothing much." I paused, looking over his outfit. "Why are you wearing so many layers?"

"What?" He looked at himself. The shorts were normal for summer, but he was wearing three t-shirts and a hoodie.

"It's 98 degrees outside. You must be boiling!"

"Oh, um, yeah, it's kinda hot outside. Whatever," he said, pulling his backpack onto his lap. "I'm okay, though."

"Come on, Michael. You're obviously sweating." It was true. He was continually wiping his forehead off with the sleeve of his hoodie, and his face was flushed.

"Dude, I'm fine."

He isn't fine. He's obviously uncomfortable. I have a body language scanner in my system, if you'd like me to-

"Activate it."

He's uncomfortable, and evidently hiding something.

"I needed you to tell me that?"

"Jeremy, I swear I'm fine. You're just overreacting. Come on." He laughed nervously. I looked at him skeptically. The bus stopped again, and Christine sat down next to us. She had her hair up in a ponytail, and she seemed excited.

"Hey! Excited for the fair?"

That was right. The school fair was today. It was one of the best days of the year. In the last week of school, we had an event every day of the week. Monday's event was the school fair, which had tons of stuff like games and obstacle courses.

"Yeah, I'm excited," I said, smiling at her. "I'd actually forgotten about it until now."

"Seriously, Jeremy? Come on." She leaned over, then spotted Michael and froze. "No. You're not going to get heatstroke because it's too hot to bind."
