My Niece

Layla's POV:

I was unaware that Bella had given birth. I knew she was pregnant but I thought that the fetus wouldn't have survived. Carlisle failed to mention any of this to me. Even thought I was surprised, I was also happy and filled with joy. The thought of being an aunt was a warm feeling to my cold heart. 

As a little girl, I had always dreamt of having a family of my own. Those dreams shifted the second I became a vampire and lost my brother. It is a relief that the option was still present. 

I followed Bella into another room that appeared to be a nursery. I saw Edward holding a baby girl in his arms. I stopped at the first glance of her. Bella walked over to her husband's side and took the baby in her arms. The baby turned her head towards me. I locked eyes with her. She was so tiny, so frail and still the most beautiful child I had ever seen. She had brown hair like her mother and her eyes were so full of life. 

"This is your aunt," Bella introduced.

I did not move a muscle. Bella walked Renesmee over to me and gently placed her in my arms. I held her close to me and tried to remain relaxed. It felt like the two of us were communicating telepathically. I didn't know what to do with the child so I slowly walked around the room. 

I rocked her back and forth in my arms. She was slowly falling asleep. As happy as I was, I was also sad. I knew that I would never be able to experience this with my own children. 

Seth's POV:

I accompanied Jacob into the Cullen house. We met with Edward and Bella. When the three of them left, I stayed behind. I eventually heard someone humming so I followed the sound into a room. I saw Layla holding Renesmee. It was a lovely sight. Seeing her with an infant in her arms was so sweet. I smiled and leaned against the doorway to watch. 

"She's good with children," Bella whispered next to me. 

I clearned my throat and said, "Yep, she sure is."

"I know you have feelings for her," Bella admitted. "She liked you, you know."

I blushed and a smile appeared on my face. 

"You should just go for it," Bella encouraged. 

"I want to but it doesn't seem like she is so keen on the idea," Seth sighed. 

"Keep trying," Bella encouraged. 

"Thanks Bella," I thanked before she walked off. 

I remained in the doorway, watching from a distance.
