A Disappointment-By Chyanne Collier
In this world, where it's cold, you feel nothing but pain.
And everything that you do, you think it's all in vain.
But never mind that the facts of life still remains,
because it’s tattooed on your face,
and it's written on your page.
Bound to the struggles that ties you down,
Consequences that didn't affect you then,
Affects you now.
And it all seem little when time fly by,
But the actual truth is.
When you were out of the womb.
Life came by and said 'whoosh'!
In this world, where it’s basks in the bleak of cold.
You woke up one day, and everything unfolds.
You realized what this reality really holds,
and all the things you once cared about,
and once knew,
were riddles,
and were only partially true.
Damaged and alone,
you’re all on your own.
Trying to find yourself once again,
but end up in the wrong
Side of the end,
Twisting and searching.
Struggling and grappling,
trying to find the strength to continue on once again.
The Curse of Being a Hunter
Leigh P.O.V
In the dining room, where my mother and I sat waiting anxiously for my father’s arrival, stood the ticking of the ancient wooden clock. A grandfather clock to be exact. It's rhythmic beat drumming loudly in our ears as it tolled; the lingering sense of foreboding echoing violently in our minds as unwelcomed thoughts ripple to the surface of our attention, thoughts that we didn't want to confirm. That we didn't want to fill in our minds. Father was late.
A feeling of apprehension took over.
As the darkest pitch of night began to crawl and settle into the twilight sky, my eyes fell heavily on the entry way to the dining room. The unsubtle feeling of dread began to wash over me. Where was he? Did something happen?
Thousands of questions took over my mind, questions that I didn't have the answers for.
He was always on time and if he wasn't, he'd call us to let us know he would be in late.
But he has never been this late. The fear slowly built up in the pit of my stomach. I just wanted a sign to know that he was alright.
I don't know how long we sat there, but the freshly cooked bread that sat on my plate was now cold and stale, and my eyes followed silently as my mother paced hectically across the length of the wooden floor. The steady thump of her feet pacing were symphonizing, perfect with the pounding rain on the roof.
