How could it get any better than this.
I quickly dried myself off and put on my socks and shoes, ready for whatever was next. The 1975 blasted through the radio, and I sang along with Tae, neither of us even close to tired, ready to take on whatever he had planned next. The windshield wipers turned on, and patters of rain lulling me into comfort, it reminding me of the many days we had spent curled up inside just watching the rain fall.
As I spaced out, he stopped just in front of what I believed was a field. It was dark, and my eyes quickly adjusted to the scenery, it more beautiful than anything I'd ever seen before, the one tree filling me with absolute happiness.
I grabbed my duffel bag and put on one of the spare sweatshirts I brought, ready for whatever was gonna happen next.
I could hear the wind piercing through the beautiful rain, creating peace.
I ran slowly towards the tree in the distance, Taehyung only shortly behind me. I spun around while running and shouted at the top of my lungs. I could hear Tae laugh through all the chaos of the rain, and run up beside me.
He scooped me up in his arms, and we ran all the way to the distant tree, our Vans crunching in the nearly frozen grass.
All coldness was forgiven as we were touching, me clinging to him like a koala.
As soon as we reached the tree I opened my duffel bag, searching for something.
I brought out a carving knife and gave it to Tae, winking at his puzzled form.
He immediately understood and grabbed the knife, carving our initials into the tree. I took my spare shoes out of my bag and put them on, tying the laces of my worn ones together before throwing them up to a branch above me.
They hung unevenly and added to the meaningfulness of this already beautiful tree.
I looked at Tae's work before giggling a bit.
He had carved our initials into the bark, circled in with a heart, a plus sign in between them. I clung to him once more and sighed into his chest as we walked back to the car again, this time sleepily and softly, as if he were walking on clouds.
All I could think about was what was next as we got into the bright red car, the stereo playing more of the mixtape, the song immediately recognizable.
Possibly, the forrest?
