"We can't tell you why he has Abigail" all three said at the same time, looking between each other nervously. It was Rueben's life, if he wanted Xavier to know he would tell him himself. "What do you mean you can't tell me? He's my mate for fucks sakes and that's not my pup!" Xavier growls back, slamming his hands on the table and snarling at them. His wolf was dangerously close on the surface, not liking that his mate was hiding things from him whatsoever.

"It's not our place. He put his trust in us and we must respect that Xavier, now sit down and pull your shit together" Luke, their father, ordered to his snarling son. It wasn't as effective, Xavier's wolf already in the prime for the alpha position but he wanted to find his mate before he took over. "All we know is he's not human, he doesn't remember his past, and he doesn't know that he's not human and he doesn't know that his daughter is part werewolf" Lucy spoke next, looking down at the table and sighing to herself.

"We aren't quite sure what he is yet, but our family friend Carla gave us medicine that hides his powers away until we can figure out how to help him through it. He isn't emotionally stable for us to tell him anything yet" Elaine continued, holding onto her mates hand and leaning her head on his shoulder.

Xavier sighed and slumped down into the chair beside Lucy, holding his face in his hands and thought. "What if he gets hurt? I've searched for years mom. I can't lose him" he said in defeat, laying his head on the table this time and just resting it there. "You're just going to have to protect him. Carla has agreed to train him once he is ready to accept everything" Elaine sighed, getting up from her chair and stretching her arms above her head. "We all need to get some rest, I'm making a buffet in the morning since no one is going to eat dinner" Luke sighed, getting up as well. Elaine could cook, but she always managed to burn something and Luke preferred cooking anyways so it balanced out and they didn't have to live off frozen dinners.

All three nodded and agreed, the two siblings staying in their spots at the kitchen table and trying to figure out what to say. "We can talk about this in the morning, we all need sleep. I'm crashing in the living room with you two by the way" Xavier whispered to Lucy, hugging her from the side before travelling to the living room. He pulled them both large blankets and pillows from the closet, stumbling back to the living room and tossing one set onto a laying Lucy and taking his own to the couch closest to Rueben. They had a large living room, so three couches fit comfortably in the space. Abby was between Rueben and Xavier, so when she whined and started to stir Xavier reached his hand into her makeshift bed and rested his hand on her stomach. He couldn't help but smile when she settled right back down. Even though her wolf hasn't awoken yet, his wolf could call out to hers and settle her down easier. It was an easier way for mates to calm their pups quicker because when they were pups they tended to have a ton of fits before they turned around 1 year old. Basically, they adapted to their pups behavior and as the generations evolved so did the wolf half of them.

*Small time skip*

Rueben woke up to Lucy slowly playing with his hair, and even though his vision was blurry he could see Xavier sitting on a laid out blanket with Abby securely asleep in his arms. "My own kid gets along with everyone else better than her own parent" he grumbled out, growling under his breath without realizing it and rolling over onto his side so that he didn't have to see it anymore. Even if he couldn't watch it, he could still feel his heart ache as his mind produced several thoughts that were all negative. He's tried everything he could think of to make her have a good childhood, but apparently it wasn't good enough for her because she stayed perfectly calm and happy with strangers. He hated over thinking, but it just hurt so damn much. "I'm going on a walk, can you please feed Abby?" Rueben asked Lucy quietly, Sliding out from under the blanket and going to the front door.

Rueben was dressed in a pair of loose sweatpants and a solid black t-shirt, so he didn't look like complete shit as he pulled on his converse and left through the front door. The best thing about the West household was the property. There was so much land, and the air felt so clearer and healthier. It felt like nature was trying to soothe his nerves, and thankfully it worked. He walked along one of the thin trails that was scattered around the place, feeling the muscles slowly relaxing the more he stayed out in the woods.

Rueben continued along the path before his head started to quickly throb, hitting him out of nowhere and making him stumble and have to lean against a tree to keep from falling. The throb rapidly grew, trailing down his neck and arms all the way to his toes. It went numb for a moment, and then all at once all he could feel was pain. It hit everywhere at once, causing him to scream as loud as possible and slump to the leaf covered ground. Screaming echoed through the forest, and it was immediately reported to Xavier because the patrollers were ordered not to go near the human guest in case it revealed their identity (no one knew who or what he was at the time so they all agreed).

Xavier, Lucy, and their parents all ran out as soon as they received the mind link and leaving one of the pack mothers to watch over Abby while they were gone. Xavier could feel his wolf whining and scratching at the surface to go help his mate. The group followed along his scent, gasping when they saw him twisting in the leaves and sobbing incoherent things. His bones kept stretching along his skin; they could see it in his hands and arms. "Someone go get the doctor! He's shifting and we can't move him but if we don't act fast we could lose him!" Elaine ordered one of the patrollers that showed up, and with a quick 'Yes Luna' he was rushing through the forest to get the doctor and explain what he could about the situation.

"Rueben hon, you have to stay awake okay? I know it hurts but you can't fall asleep" Elaine cooed, trying to kneel down beside him but stopping when he growled and bore his teeth at her before whining and rolling onto his other side. His mind was in shreds, he couldn't focus on one solid thought and everything was just burning and it felt like all of his muscles were being ripped to shreds. He opened his mouth to scream again then his right hand jerked forward, but nothing came out except for a low whine and the hand quickly turned and bent at the wrong angle again. His body was fighting the change, he was broke out in a very high fever, and none of them could get close to him without being snapped or growled at. He felt himself slowly losing consciousness, and let the darkness take him away from all the pain. Rueben couldn't even hear the frantic screams, or the tearing of clothes and loud growls in the background.
