Maya's POVIt's been about a month since I started talking to Lucas again and everything is good. I'm having a lot less breakdowns, I'm sleeping more, and I've met some new friends. After my fight with Bryce, I stopped talking to my old friend group. I didn't talk to them at school, I stopped texting them, and I removed them off my social media. Alana and Ronnie tried to ask me what happened but I ignored them. I heard the other day that Alana and Bryce broke up because she liked another girl, and all I can think about is the fact that Bryce deserves it. He was such an asshole to me and he never apologized. None of them know that I'm friends with Lucas again, but now I don't really care if they know.
Right now, I'm laying down on my bed just scrolling through my phone until I hear a knock on the door. I groan and run down the stairs and open my door to come face to face with Callie, one of my new really good friends.
"Hey love!" She squeals giving me a hug.
"Hi boo! How are you?" I ask gesturing for her to come in.
"I'm good, what about you?" She smiles.
"Pretty good, just thinking about the past." I shrug as we go sit down on my couch.
"Do you miss your old friends? Like Veronica or Alana?"
"Yeah, I miss them a lot but it's better that I'm not friends with them. I was too much for them and they couldn't handle me and I don't wanna make their life a living hell, so I've just decided to distance myself." I say.
"Well good thing you have me then! I would never say that you're too much for me. I know exactly how you feel. Having depression and anxiety is really hard, and we both know that, but the thing that you need most is good friends who support you and know how to calm you down. Did they support you and calm you down?" She asks.
"Yeah, but after Lucas and I broke up, it was bad. I was crying almost every day, I could barely breathe, it was terrible. It got better after a month but then after I had a party, that's when my friends got kinda fed up with me. I'm over it though." I smile and sigh happily.
"Wait, but aren't you and Lucas friends now?"
"Yeah, I guess." I chuckle.
"What do you mean you guess?"
"Well, I still love him, and he still loves me. We're kind of more than friends but we aren't dating or like fucking. But every time I see him, I just wanna kiss him and be with him. It's so frustrating, but I'm really happy he's in my life. My life is so much easier with him in it." I smile.
"You guys are adorable together! When he's around you, your mood is literally ten times better."
"That is true." I laugh.
"So, it's Saturday, what're we doing tonight?" She asks.
"I say, we go to dinner, and then we come back here to chill." I suggest.
"Sounds great! Should I invite Tara and Dustin?" Callie asks.
"Of course! There's always a party when T is there." I laugh.
"That is true. I'll text her now." She says grabbing her phone. After a little bit of time she confirms that Tara and Dustin are able to come.
"Yay!" I say standing up. I turn on some music and then we both start dancing around my living room. Our dance party gets interrupted when I hear my front door open.
"Honey, I'm home!" Lucas shouts in a teasing tone.
"Hey!" I say running over to him and hugging him.
