She turned her heavy head to the door. There was white light creeping through the doorway that lead to the living room, where the TV was. She would go get some coffee, it would be pointless to try to sleep now. When her eyes had adjusted to the dark, the slim brunette swung her slender legs off of the bed and stood up cautiously.
The girl was suddenly hit by an unbearable wave of nausea and dizziness and had to grip the bedside table to steady herself. After half a minute she stood back up and made her way to her bedroom door and stopped. She felt a sudden sense of dread. The hairs on her back, neck and arms raised up and her nausea and dizziness threatened to come back, as if her own body was warning her to stay in her room.
Her sweaty hands gripped the cold doorknob tightly. Sweat dripping off the tip of her nose, she willed herself to turn the door handle. She turned it slowly and cautiously. The door creaked open slowly. The dark living room was illuminated only by the TV and there was the dark silhouette of a man seated on the sofa with his back towards her. So that's where Jack was. He was sitting airily still, with his back strait up. Not moving at all. Not even daring to breathe. She looked to the TV. There was just static and white noise. Her cellphone vibrated in her hand and she checked her latest text message. It was from Jack. The text message read : " Hey S. Sorry, I had to leave for work at half 11. There was a breakdown at the factory. I just realized that I forgot lock the front door when I went out, so you might wanna go lock it now. I love you."
Sarah dropped the phone. The reality of the situation hit her in the gut like a bus. This man, wasn't Jack. The man stood up and the TV turned off.
