Jimmy sat alone in the subway station, staring at the dirty ground. The D.C. system was much cleaner than the New York one, but still had that suffocating feeling. Never the less, Jimmy did not move.
It had been six months, and he was still not over it. He never would be. He never wanted that day to come, not this soon. His father, the man he looked up to, the PSA posterchild... was gone forever.
Jimmy had left the PSA on leave for these months, and hadn't worked up the courage to rejoin yet. His mourning stretched on and on, into the past and into the future. Would he ever be rid of it?
A subway car went by, causing a synthetic wind to blow through the tunnel. Jimmy did not move as his black hair was disturbed. He was at his stop, but decided to sit. It was a bad idea, being alone with his thoughts.
Suddenly, someone sat down next to Jimmy. He didn't have to turn his head to know that it was none other than Ray Darzi.
"Jimmy."
"Ray."
The young, Persian man looked at his friend's blank face. "It's been a while since I've heard from you."
"I got your emails," Jimmy said bluntly. Ray nodded. "So... what have you been up to in D.C.?"
"You know. Taking classes. Sitting around in my flat. Mourning."
Ray sighed, looking at the ground and wrinkling his nose at the dirty grout between tiles. "A lot's been going on..."
"I know," finished Jimmy. "I haven't said anything about moving here, yet you took the time to track me down. Something important must be happening."
Ray sighed and crossed his arms. "Jimmy... You're my best friend. I would have found you anyway."
There was a moment of silence. It was
.. content.
"But yeah, some real shit is going down right now."
Jimmy looked over at Ray slowly, then a smile crept onto his face. Within moments, he was laughing along with his best friend. It... It really helped.
"Well, what kind of shit?" Jimmy asked once he regained his composure.
Ray suddenly went serious. "It's actually some heavy stuff. After the plans that your dad had were stolen, we sent two agents to Mexico city when we finally got a lead."
"Who took them? You found out?" Jimmy asked, suddenly sitting up.
"It's that organization, E.D.! They've been bothering us forever!"
Jimmy frowned. The mysterious criminal organization was at it again. "Have the agents uncovered anything?"
"We think, but we can't talk over radio any more. ED is onto them and they've kidnapped one of the agents, Theodore Claeton."
Jimmy wrinkled his nose. Theodore was a few years older than him, and a huge stuck-up."They sent Theodore? Wow. Who's the other?"
Ray thought for a moment. "Emily Garcia. She's in hiding now, but PSA wants to send three more agents to help."
Jimmy raised an eyebrow. "Who are they sending?"
"Me and some older guy, they claim that he's really good."
"... and who else...?"
Ray took a deep breath.
"They want you, Jimmy."
"No way."
"Jimmy!" Ray looked at him, Jimmy averted his eyes. "You've hidden long enough. Please, come with me. We can do this."
Jimmy closed his eyes. He wanted to, but... was he ready?
"If for nothing else... do it for revenge."
Jimmy's eyes opened.
"I'm in."
Ray grinned. "Perfect. Now..." He stood up.
"We got a plane to catch!"
