Remus sat in the Great hall, early in the morning, with his head buried into his arms and his eyes closed. He had just left the infirmary, after a full moon a couple days ago, and not wanting to wake up the boys, he headed straight to the Great hall. Not a lot of students were up this early, but the some who do, are most likely to be finishing their homework last minute.
Remus felt someone sit in front of him and he peeked his head out of his arms, to see a girl, with brown hair and small circle glasses framing her face, as well as her Ravenclaw robes hanging loosely on her shoulders.
"Don't question it, you seem to be needing the company." The girl spoke not glancing up from the book she was reading.
Remus straighten his posture and looked at the book in her hands.
"'The Shinning', I've never heard of that book before." Remus said aloud, making the brunette looks up.
The brunette slightly smiled at the mention if her book, "It's a muggle book, my father bought it for me. It's a horror, which I got a knack for, and the author is just brilliant. I am a fan of his work. The book is fantastic, you should read it sometime."
A smile fell onto Remus' face listening to the girl rambled about her book in admiration.
"I might have to consider it," Remus said, " I don't think we've properly introduced ourselves, my name is Remus Lupin."
"My name is Rose Laurence." The brunette said extending her hand, which Remus gladly shook.
They spent their last hours of quietness, before more students came piling in, talking about books and classes, developing a new friendship between the two preteens.
Once the hall was almost full, Rose had disappeared, slipping out of the Great Hall Leaving Remus smiling like a fool.
"Remus! We've been looking for you," Sirius shouted as James and Peter trailed after him. He takes a seat where Rose had once sat and noticed the smile on Remus' face
"What's gotten you all giddy?" he asked.
Remus shook his head and chuckled, "Made a new friend."
